[/size]The morning fog was thicker than ever as Katniss and two of her stables jockeys began unloading War Horse Equatrian's two most hopeful thoroughbreds. Iz, make sure you don't pull on her mouth. She likes to hug the rail, so watch your inside leg. Just let her do her thing, I want to see how Coors reacts. Katniss advises swiftly, not realizing how much infomation she put into one sentence. Izabella Vandegrift nods in understanding and mounts the small 15.2 mare. Colton, Coors will fall back behind Miz. He doesn't like to give his all until the home stretch at the latest. Once you get around to around the fifth or sixth furlong you get on him. Blow him out, I want to see what he can do. Katniss gives Colton a leg up and follows the pair to the dirt track.
Once the pair are loaded into the gates, Katniss climbs over the track railing where a stop watch and a clipboard await her. The gates slam open and Miz shoots out almost immediately. Coors follows slowly, and slows until her is at least one horse space away from Miz. The small mare immediately finds her rhythm to Izabella's satisfaction and moves in toward the railing. Iz keeps her hand off the mare's neck and whispered softly in the direction of her moving ears.
Colton trudged behind, always keeping at least a horses distance between Coors and Miz. He could feel the power and energy building in his muscles, only to be released in full force near the end of the track. Colton smiled, he knew once he released Coors, he would eat up the home stretch. Up ahead, Miz kept her hold on the inside railing, keeping her head up and stretching out with every stride.
The fifth furlong came up on the pair and Colton could feel it was time. It seemed like Iz knew Coors was coming; she squeezed her calfs and gave Miz two taps on the rump with her small crop. The mare tucked her head in and tossed it back out, accelerating slowly. Colton pushed his hands upwards, releasing some of the reins, and giving Coors his head. The stallion exploded. Tucking in his hind legs and pushing outwards with all his might. Miz's ears flattened to her head as the sounds of Coors barreling up beside them grew louder. Iz whispered to her softly at first, then began raising her voice to urge the mare to go faster. Miz responded beautifully, stretching her neck out, itching to have her head. Iz pushed her hands forward and let her go. Coors slowed as he got next to Miz, for a slight second, reading his competition; then bursting forward once more.
Miz accelerated and managed to keep up with Coors until the seventh furlong, when she dropped down down enough for the stallion to get a small lead on her. As the pair crossed the finish line almost together, they began slowing the sweaty thoroughbreds to a brisk walk. Beautiful. They both preform excellent with eachother. Good competition. I feel a race for the two of them would be quite good. Katniss smiled brightly and she hopped over the fence and jogged toward her jockeys.
