BOWEN ARROW Ridden by Chris Stevens
September Workout
Bowen Arrow almost won the Kindergarten Stakes coming in second place was still a victory. Chris Stevens was late on getting this workout done but, rather late then never. Pulling Bowen out of the stall already saddled he made sure the saddle was not too tight or too loose. Chris was the jockey of GS Super Charged as well and it seemed he was the only jockey allowed near the colt but, he had other horses to attend to and he knew that Ben was in his paddock enjoying himself. Chris hopped up upon the horses back and started him onto the track.
Chris had Bowen Arrow entered in the September Maiden Turf and he was racing Princetta from Intrepid Racing Inc. The colt was a two year old and had still needed experience since he was young. But, some horses were great as a two year old. The tracks were empty since it was early in the morning. "I know you haven't been here in awhile bud but, we need to workout those legs of yours." He said placing his glasses over his eyes. Bowen bobbed his head a little doing what he was told and was urged to a trot. The thoroughbred stretched his long legs out and when ready he came to a gallop along the back stretch.
Of course, as the minutes began to come by and other people were watching Bowen Arrow run down the track. Video camera's started shooting and the colt nickered as he came up to the last turn he then slowed his pace to another trot. The colt was all sweaty and he began to show off towards the people video taping him and as they cheered he pranced along the ground as if he was dancing. Chris could only laugh as he stopped the horse and slid off his back and walked him over to the side where the young kids were just exploring. "It's alright you can pet him, he's a big baby." He said watching the parents lift up their children to pet him. Chris petted his neck praising the colt.
He nodded his head and then when the children were finished petting him, Chris pulled the colt off the tracks so that way he wouldn't be in the way towards others who were also working out. "Good boy Bowen." Chris said then tied the reins to a pole and went to take off his saddle to give him a nice warm bath. The colt seemed to enjoy it whacking his tail at both sides of his hind quarters he seemed to be sleeping. Afterwards Chris was headed back home so that way he could have the colt rest and be ready for race day.
