GAMBLE ON PEACE Ridden by Chris Stevens
Lemonade Cup Workout // September Workout
Bowen Acres had a rough through when it came to Gamble on Peace. The chestnut colt finally moved up to grade 4. Chris had saddled up the colt after brushing him. Gamble stood there waiting to go out on the track. While Gambler was a biter he tried so abruptly to get Chris moving. The jockey hopped up onto his setting his feet where they belonged to balance himself on the tall colt. Walking the colt out while on his back was easy Gambler listened to what he was told until entering the track arena. Sometimes the colt had his own mind.
Making his way to the track the press decided to snag pictures of the now grade 4 colt. He was slowly moving his way up to becoming a champion and as a 3 year old he was mature enough. Gamble on Peace was up against Smarty's Dream and Canjun Moon both well desired racehorses. Chris was the jockey of yet another great racehorse and he enjoyed his job quite well. Chris urged the colt to keep moving ignoring the camera's and the flashes pointing at the chestnut.
Hitting the dirt surface the sprinter would be well ready for the Lemonade Cup. "Alright Gambler easy workout today buddy, your getting to your destination let's save your best energy for the race." He said taking the reins and gripping them tighter as Chris moved the colt to a trot, as Gambler moved slowly at first to get where he wanted the horse woke up and began move at the pace his rider wanted him to go. The chestnut was an intelligent horse coming from Dreamvalley stables he had wonderful training before coming the his new home.
While getting his blood pumping Chris then had Gamble come to a gallop in the back stretch and the colt ran to his sprinting legs would take him. Finding his lead the colt was normally a closer but, where he started last he worked for near the end. Gamble pushed himself to the highest limits to get to first place. All Chris wanted was for the horse to run his race and maybe perhaps win a leg of apart of the triple crown. If he won or placed in the Belmont would be a victory for Chris. The colt ran 5-8 furlongs and was best on dirt surfaces maybe he would win other great races for sprinters.
Coming around the corner Chris pulled the colt back to a trot to give the press a good look at the racer. He had spunk and character a colt that was stabled with GS Super Charged because the two colts acted like brothers except one more moody and one a guardian. The colt held his head high with pride and show. Sweat built all over the chestnut he was like a shiny new toy that just came out of a box. Coming to a stop Gamble remained calm his ears raised looking exactly at the camera's flashing at him. He was then guided off the track. The Lemonade Cup would have a competitor that was for sure. The other two horses would be honored by Gamble for letting them race by their side.
He was now Grade 4 which meant bigger races, bigger competition. Chris would have to train Gamble to push to that limit but, not too hard. He wanted the colt to be ready for greater races then he raced before. He was no longer a boy but, a man getting ready to show the world what he could do. Chris would be proud to ride on his back. "Good boy Gambler, how bout some oats and some rest huh?" He said rubbing the nose of the horse guiding him back to the stables waving off the press as he walked by with the well balanced colt.
