ITALIAN ICE AND VALENCIA ANDREWS
SWEET INFERNO AND HENNA TURATH
The two women had been let loose onto the dirt track today. Amber Black had merely signaled with a nod of her head that she wanted her two Youth Challenge entrants out there working over the Green Horse Fields track. Not that both juveniles hadn't been here before - quite the contrary. But that was Amber Black, and she was always cautious and ready. Even now she leaned casually against the track rail, gleaming stopwatch in hand and eyes keen. Her eyes focused sharply on her own two mounts before flicking around to the other horses working over the track. Her eyes always refocused on her own stock as she picked out the competition. The gleam in her eyes was excited. Italian Ice and Sweet Inferno. Two promising juveniles, one of which was only here temporarily.
From aboard her tall black filly's back, Henna Turath surveyed the dirt track like a hawk. The horse she rode looked powerful and acted it too. She muscled her way along as though she didn't care for what got in her way. She exuded an impressive and domineering aura, and she was absolutely built with muscle. The recently ruthless fireball had calmed down the moment her hooves sank into the dirt. Now she walked forward obediently, ever calm and looking amazing. Sweet Inferno was not the most well known name out there. If anything, she had only turned a few heads when she had won the Horseshoe Futurity in early October. Her latest start had been a third in the Errantry Derby over the Wire dirt about two weeks ago. She had come out excited and pumped. Henna Turath knew that while her juvenile season was so far quiet, her three year old season would be consistently crackling with class that would not fail to attract attention.
As for Valencia Andrews, the young jockey was once again remarking on how she had never before ridden such an innately talented horse as Italian Ice. Icee was bred to be a champion and already acted like one too, not to mention she was unceasingly impressive in anything she did. Her five wins this year had all been in amazing races and she had not yet started with Valencia in the irons. But Valencia knew she was cracking this black prodigy. Icee had a fiery will to win and an arrogant attitude that she related only too well to. She and Icee would go places no matter if it was only for a short amount of time. Valencia already knew that her experience with Icee would stay with her, and that she was already becoming a better rider because of it. To her, her rise to the top was coming, and as arrogant and self-centered as that was Valencia just knew it to be true.
Let's rock and roll Valencia declared suddenly, and let Icee out. The filly took up a powerful trot and was instantly mirrored by the shorter black Sweet Inferno. They made a duet of darkness coasting up the track and getting ready to go.
