April Workout

Well, April was here and Ben was back on the tracks after resting his hooves for awhile. The 3 year old was on fire in the barn this morning and Chris did everything in his ability to keep the colt as calm as possible. Placing the saddle on his back Chris made it on his back with no problem from the horse. It was nice to have the complete trust of an ill-mannered horse. Grabbing the reins Chris would kindly walk Ben to stretch his legs just a little before working him out to his full potential.
The brown colt held his head high walking as he was told. Chris tightened his gloves and fastened his helmet while the horse reached the dirt tracks of Green Horse Fields. Ben then pranced along the far fences before coming to a stop. Chris wanted to be sure the track was not wet or cause the colt problems. After studying the looks of the track Chris was back on the racehorse as he watched some reporters on the stands. Shaking his head he took a breath before clicking his tongue and aided the colt to a trot. The jockey would be silent so the two could focus.
GS SuperCharged was trotting rather smoothly as he moved away from the rail and came to a relaxing gallop pushing his hooves off the dirt even harder. He bit into the cold bit in his mouth feeling the track beneath his hooves. Ben would do his best in the upcoming races with all other horses on this track Ben didn't try to budge around them. He ran with the flow today and after coming to the home stretch of the track, the horse was back to a trot to the best of his ability.
He was praised for his hard work and Chris only hoped next time to bring someone along to workout with. The colt wouldn't be worked out so hard the next few months in fact he would be retrained to handle slow and steady until race day. Chris handled aggressive horses before and learned Ben's skills very quickly in order to ride him. To other racers on race day he was just another horse to compete against. Race day would be exciting because the Triple Crown was underway and GS SuperCharged would tryout his best to follow his dear old dad.
