[/blockquote]Beautiful Liar had really begun to prove herself to the jockeys and trainers of different stables, showing to them that she wasn't some lowsy laid back horse, but a big bold and athletic horse who had the ability to clock up the wins and break into other grades. By being entered in a race which it didn't seem likely she could win in, it would be helpful for her in the future - especially as she was becoming a well matured three year old. During the season, she had managed to get six wins to her name, two of which were in maiden races. She was one to watch, and Jacey was hoping she could be in the likes of Flawed Princess and Dazzling Dame over the turf.
She had been entered in the Rising Fury memorial, against some very strong and very talented horses. Starting in Gate One was Italian Ice. The filly had won the Canadian Triple Crown in style, becoming the first filly to do so impressively, especially after Instant Success failed to win the last leg the previous year as it seemed he wasn't 'experienced' enough over the turf. The filly had a very good season, winning several races which put her firmly in the place of heavy favourite for this race. She was bouncing off a strong second in the Universal Cup and because of this it seemed like she could most definitely take on the rest of this field.
Starting in Gate Two was Royal Cadenza, Leah's very strong rival. After he beat her a couple of weeks before, he was gradually getting stronger and as he was older, he was beginning to take on the bigger horses. He had some good races to his name this year and it seemed like he was only getting stronger and stronger. The colt was one to watch in this field, and even though he, himself had only won lower class races, it seemed like he could pick himself up nicely and maybe pull it out of the bag to win.
Gate Three held the amazing and ever improving Witch Creek filly, Whipped Cream. The filly was amazing and after getting herself up to Grade Two during her four year old season alone it stamped her down as a fantastic filly. Jacey was sure Witch Creek were doing exceptional with her and even though she was a strong four year old, Leah would try her hardest. She needed the experience for these fields. Whipped Cream was one of the oldest horses in the field alongside Royal Cadenza. Jacey missed Caden, she used to own him a while back.
Finally, in Gate Five there was Georgie's Girl, the Star Thoroughbreds entrant. She hadn't had a great season but it didn't throw her off - she had won the Seashell Cup Grade Two, and placed in many big races even though she had two wins from the season to her name. The field for the race was quite top heavy. Leah would race in mid-pack. Italian Ice would lead - as she did to win the Canadian Triple Crown. Georgie's Girl wouldn't be far behind her with Royal Cadenza. Leah would try her hardest to stay in front of Whipped Cream, even though she had raced as a closer before and closed in stylish fashion to win. Being a mid-pack horse gave her the advantage. They weren't going to race as a preceder in this.
Beth Harvey had mounted onto her filly and walked her onto the track - Ivana followed on the colt, Majestic Hero. He would be breezing alongside today to prepare for his own very strong field in the juveniles. Both jockeys warmed there horses up accordingly, and after a few circles in walk and trot, they broke off into canter side by side. Jester took the rail and Leah was on his outside. Beth and Ivana stood in there stirrups and rocked with there horses. They were doing exceptionally well for there ages.
As they rounded the home turn after the five furlong breeze over the turf, the jockeys shook the reins and the horses began to pick up there speed. Coming into the home stretch, Jester began to lengthen his stride and shortly followed by Leah, though her stride was long and low already. She took hold of the bit and ran, sprinting effortlessly across the turf. Jester tried his hardest to stay with her but as they approached the wire, Leah got her nose in front and she beat out Jester with her closing kick. Both filly and colt were ready for their races.
