Flashabelle Workout for the Kentucky Derby
The slender black filly trotted out onto the dirt. Her beautiful pelt was shimmering under the sunlight as Kate kissed to her. The filly pranced sideways to the rail before trotting forward as the pressed up against the white railing. She wasn't sure to the dirt and it was different for her, but Kate had no doubt in her mind that the mare would be fine. Kate let the mare begin to canter forward. Her muscle moved amazingly under her coal black pelt. Kate had put two white wraps on her back legs. Wrapped them tightly and made sure that nothing was bothering her. Next came the light blanket and lastly the saddle. Well of course the thin, black bridle also was laid across her face and tucked under her chin. Flashabelle was a beautiful sight and a few works had come to see the Derby filly move. A creature to be recked with, she was. Her lethal movements across the dirt were amazing and she looked like a Goddess on the track.
Squeezing her legs, Flashabelle entered a faster gait before Kate felt that she was getting more comfortable on the dirt. Next, she rode her into a make shift gate on the top of the track. It was set up just like the derby without the crowd and other horses except one that would run side by side with Belle. Belle shifted in her gate, moving around a bit as Kate leaned forward and readied herself. Suddenly, the gates burst open and the mare shot forward, pounding the ground. Kate noticed almost no difference with the dirt and than on turf and smiled. The other equine ran beside her for some time till they came to about the seventh furlong and it began to fade. Kate held Belle back another furlong before unleashing her power. She thundered forward crossing that line in seconds that seemed to pass as minutes.
