It felt like a fairy tale. We'd never won the first two legs of the Triple Crown and Tiara before, and now we had won both. With just the Belmont Stakes and the Coaching Club American Oaks to go, we were closer to a Triple win than ever before. Two of them, in fact! Furious Passion and Born To Soar had been receiving a lot of attention, from home and the media. There had been people literally parking their cars along the border fence of the farm just to get a glimpse of the two thoroughbreds. Both of them were loving it too, actually seeming to pose for photographs when they were at the track, and at home. And galloping around in their pastures in frustration, since they weren't doing any galloping hardly in between the races.
This morning, with the races a whole week away, the horses were allowed a four furlong gallop. Mr Hat and Clogs was extremely fired up. He danced all over the place as Blaze tried to pick his feet, so it took longer than usual to get the normally quite well behaved colt ready for the workout. When they finally arrived at the track, the other two had already begun their warm up. He nudged Kisuke's sides, asking for a faster trot. The colt obliged on the faster part, instead breaking into a speedy canter. Blaze rolled his eyes, but let the colt have it. They'd catch up quicker anyway.
