Entering her stall I clipped the lead rope on her halter, and tied her outside. Placing her tack on her and doing the usual checks, she was fine. I know the turf was ok as I walked around the course already. The filly have done well in last race with was 6 furlongs, so she was now entered for another 6 furlongs. As I lifted her forelegs one by one to stretched the skin, Sean turned up. He patted her neck and smiled. We are going to do a gate breaking workout for this race, I have her speed and she stumbled a little last time which could have effected. So keep doing what you are doing and we take it from there. I listened to his instructions and nodded agreeing to it.
Mounting onto the cream filly, I walked her towards the track which on the moist side due to the frosty morning dew, which was indeed normal right now. Being fully refreshed the filly was messing around and playing a little. I allowed her to carry on with this, until I got her mind focus and trotted towards the gates. Being really exticting she didn't want to go in the gate, and refused to go in twice. Circling her around, I managed to settle her down and the loaders managed to get her in now. She weren't happy though and half reared which she normally does, I managed to smooth her down a little and stroked her neck. Soon enough she calmed down and I got into position like it was real race.
The gates sprung open, and immediately I felt her break was quicker than last time. I rode her the same way as I normally does, knowing her style in the racing workout now and races, she stayed in the middle of the track, weaving slowly towards the rail and hugged it close like she was cradling it. Her stride was really improving, I could feel it as I was riding the awersome filly. She was showing she was enjoying it now, and soon it was ready for her to break, like she was challenging the leader. Weaving herself towards the outside, positioning herself like she was challenging the leader of the race. Then suddenly the workout was over and I gently I pulled her back into a smoothing canter, and then into trot until she started to walk some more.
Walking back towards Sean he was please. She have cretinaly have improved in the breaking from the gate, that was awesome ride I said extictly and we both laughed, dismounting and then walked together by to the yard.[/font][/ul]
