Golden Grove and Skye Webber
November Maiden Workout
After the warm up was complete I slowed her down into a trot and circled her by the gate, and patting her neck. We were going to be on our own today, just me and Tegan which was really nice and what we wanted basically. Patting her palomino neck, as the loaders led her into the gate and she was calm, which was a natural for her. The doors sprung open and I felt her stride kicking out into action. Encouraging her to go faster, keeping the stride smooth as possible so she was also comfortable. With just us on the track, it felt really magical and peaceful, just me and the horse moving as one.
Soon five furlongs have gone pass and I encourage Tegan to run faster, and she did without a second thought, like she was born to run. Her mane and tail were waving behind her like she was flying, and hitting my face lightly the same time. Two more furlongs have passed us, and the filly began to move faster again and began to make her move, like she was in a real race. The final stretch was here and I gave her head and Tegan began to respond and I felt the speed going faster, nothing I have felt before which was again amazing.
Soon enough the workout was over and I pulled her up into a canter and then into trot, towards back to the gap. I smiled and patted her neck, really glad to ride her again, I have the feeling she was ready for the competition more this time, and I can’t wait to feel the ground shake underneath us. Walking her towards the yard, I jumped off her back and handed her back to the groom, and went to my next ride for the day.
