WORKOUT FOR THE BREEDER'S CUP
- - x - x - -
Terror Smile had been beaten and Aiden was pissed off. They should of had that race. It would have been an easy win if he had gotten her behind Excutioner's Apprentice but instead he had broken her too quick and couldn't get her behind the stalkers without stopping her. They had been a sitting duck in the front of the pack with Excutioner pushing her all the way around the track. It was idiotic of Aiden to break her so quick and he blamed their loss on his stupidity. Smiles could have and would have won that race!
He stormed into the barn that morning, fury in his eyes. He was ready for pure revenge. They were to meet Sillenia today but not take revenge... not yet. No that would wait until the race. Smiles would be fighting him all the way but Aiden would keep her behind Sillenia. Never pass her... Never pass her... that's all that was on his mind until he entered the tack room where Hailey was sitting the tack box, head in hands. "Hailey?" Aiden asked softly. She looked up at Aiden to reveal the tears that were streaming down her face. All she had to do was sniff and shake her head. Aiden tried to swallow but couldn't. This was all his fault it felt like, "Hailey... I'm so sorry that I messed-" Hailey shook her head, "Aiden, it's not your fault. You shouldn't blame yourself like that." Aiden denied it. "No, it is! But I'll fixed it. I swear I will. We'll win the Cup. She'll stop at nothing to beat everyone in the next race... you'll see." Hailey shook her head. "You going up against Sillenia today?" Aiden nodded sullenly. Hailey nodded slowly, "Don't let Smiles in front." Aiden nodded, "I know." Hailey smiled up at him and sniffed.
Aiden grabbed Smiles's halter and headed to her stall. The grey filly was standing in the corner, her head hanging. Aiden kissed to her when he got to her stall and Smiles raised her head and looked at him. "Come here, girl." She let a low whinny and Aiden slid open the stall door. Smiles trotted up to Aiden, her head held high. He smiled and patted her neck, slipping her halter over her head. "Let's go," he clucked and Smiles followed him eagerly, her head raised high. Hailey, still sitting on the tack box watched Smiles in the crossties right outside the open tack room door. Aiden tried to saddle the filly but everytime he tried to put the saddle on her back, Smiles would either rear up or kick out eagerly; not neccesarily in a bad way but instead an anxious way. After about thirty minutes, Smiles had been saddled completely. She had played all her tricks but in the end Aiden had gotten her saddled up. Aiden turned to Hailey before heading out to the track, "Are you coming?" Hailey shook her head. "Not this time." Aiden nodded hesitantly and the lead Smiles out to the track.
As he approached the track he became more anxious to start riding. Many reporters were swarmed around the track and a big group was already running his way. Aiden sighed and kept leading Smiles straight towards the track. The first reporter that got to him said, "So, where's Hailey?" Another said, "When's she coming?" Aiden gritted his teeth and spat back, "I don't know! Go ask some one else. Now if you excuse me I must work my horse for the Breeder's Cup." Aiden hopped on Smiles and took off at a trot towards the track leaving the reporters in the dust... now all he needed was Sillenia. Where was the grade one mare, anyways?
notes; so this is Smile's prep for the Breeder's Cup so we got to make this short and sweet. lol
