When a horse had a good start to their career, they more often than not continued to perform well throughout their careers. It was a fact that many knew, and everyone aimed high with their new names on the track. This year, it seemed as if Silver Stride Stables had hit gold with their two year old colt, Blue Me Away, who had originally been bred by Star Thoroughbreds before they had purchased him in a sale. He had shown several times as a prospect, and had once placed outside of the top three, however for the most part he had remained at the stable undergoing training with Matthias and the team.
Blue's debut in January Week One had been spectacular, he had managed to pull away with a win in the Mighty Moose Stakes having pressured the front runners throughout. Then he had rested for several weeks before returning to the track for the Unicorn Horn where once again he was able to nose his way in front to claim a solid victory. With two starts and two wins it was obvious why he had become the source of gossip both on the track and in the stable. People were speculating where the stable might take the colt, and they had not even looked into the future themselves yet. They wanted to take things one step at a time, and while they planned their next move they would take Jacob intended to keep him fit.
It was for this reason, and this reason alone, that he had contacted Star Thoroughbreds. They were a large stable, with numerous two year olds, and that was not to mention that they would probably like to see how the colt was doing with his new team. Of course, they had seen him at the track but it was not the same as being able to properly interact with him. Jacob knew that sometimes it was hard to say goodbye to the horses, and he felt that it was good to show a strong relationship with other stables.
The black colt was fit and ready for anything. His dark eyes gleamed and his audits pressed forwards as he was led toward the turf track which was where he raced. He pulled against the rein, seemingly determined to reach the track more quickly and Lucas pulled him in time and time again. But the colt could not really help it, Lucas knew - he loved the track, he loved to race, and he knew exactly where he was headed.
Jacob walked behind them, his helmet already on and the crop held loosely by his side. He was looking forward to properly meeting the Star Thoroughbreds team and being able to test Blue against other two year olds in this workout. So far, he had proven himself against his own age twice, but there was always more competition out there and he would need to prove himself against them time and time again if he were to become the champion the team believed that he could be.
