INFINITE WARCRY AND AMBER BLACK
To ride this gentle giant was to be aboard a mighty ship on a stormy ocean. No matter how much the ocean tried to overturn the mighty ship, it kept on sailing steadily to its chosen destination. It was undaunted, filled with courage, mightily strong. This was Infinite Warcry in a nutshell. Ten wins in thirteen starts - had any horse been as impressive as that? Five wins this season, including the first two Turf Triple Crown preps, and the mighty Wire Finish Cup Turf. He was on his way to being named a legend, and he was the best Turf Triple Crown contender Amber had had since Wildly Natural. And she felt that they could do this. They could win the series.
Finally! Victory could be mine! She cackled out loud, and then paused. Well. That was strange. Glancing around the empty barn, she chuckled slightly before leading her gentle giant out and mounting up. Infini stirred as though waking upon catching sight of the track. The turf called to his hooves. He waited impatiently but never hurried Amber along, instead walking with dignity to the track and letting it grace his hooves. He whuffed in excitement and increased the pace of his walk. Amber was just cuing him to trot and then off they went at this sprightly pace. They were resting until the Kentucky Open in four weeks and Amber wanted to keep Infini sharp.
Their competition could be tough. There was Instant Success, of course. And then there was Frozen Motion, a colt they hadn't faced but who was having a successful season....Amber pondered this as she began cantering Infini down the turf. His rolling strides lulled her into a sense of comforting power and she grinned slightly as the furlongs passed.
