[Night Goddess] & Kyle Landing - Bonding and Training
It was a mild understatement to say that Kyle was excited. It was like having an early Christmas! It was two years ago when Kyle had watched Luscia give birth to the juvenile filly before him and seeing her now...in his charge...it was simply meant to be. Little knew about Luscia's bloodlines...but Kyle had seen Vendetta run...her first foal out of none other than Augusto and he had been a terror, tearing up the tracks! He retired with a record of 29-10-11-4 and had many high stake wins to his name.
Nowadays, people knew more about Lusica's bloodline through Afterglow and Spitting Image...but Kyle...he'd been there since the beginning of the mare's brood career and crossing the mare with the SOPS owned Grand Silence had been his idea. Grand Silence was an under appreciated stallion, in his opinion, but he was sure that the winning match between Luscia and Grand Silence was going to really put the spotlight on the stallion and mare. Silenia was one of his filly's that was really going places, but Night Goddess was simply only going to confirm this bloodlines success...but first things first.
The black filly had taken to Kyle instantly, as though she sensed his love of her the instant he opened the trailer doors. Since then, Kyle had devoted every spare minute to the black filly and it was paying off. As Kyle approached with the racing tack and gear, the filly tossed her head excitedly and thrusted her head into Kyle's chest. He gasped for air and laughed as she withdrew back into her stall, legs prancing in her joy.
There's no doubt about it. You love to run. He chuckled and led the filly into the aisle and began prepping the filly. She stood as still as she could in her excited state, which meant things were taking a bit longer....and the longer the process took, the more excited she became.
Finally tacked and geared up, Kyle led the filly out and hoisted himself into the saddle. He pointed her to the turf track and she was more the eager to comply.
The completely black filly moved with fine flowing action, her mind and actions completely attuned to her rider. Kyle couldn't help, but smile. She was a dream to ride, just like he'd always imagined her to be.
He asked the filly for a light canter, pressing her slightly with his legs and in one fluid motion she responded. The grin touched his features from ear to ear. The next three furlongs went in fine fashion as Kyle grew familiar to Goddess and Goddess to Kyle. After about the first furlong each had settled in comfortably with the other and their true personalities were shining through.
Kyle was firm, but appreciative with the black and Goddess was responding with respect, minding his leg and the rein. As she settled in to their warm-up her excitement and love of racing was clearly evident. She tossed her head with passion as the thrill of their canter stoked the fire within her to run. She wanted to run and now comfortable with Kyle, this sole idea of running consumed her mind.
Her last outing with Silver Stride had been a disappointing 5th, but the competition had been fierce in the Unicorn Horn...Kyle didn't understand why the filly hadn't place in the money, but he was dedicated that that wouldn't happen again...not with him on board, coaching, training and conditioning this black wonder.
As the third furlong came to an end, Kyle couldn't help, but smile...now was the time to see what this Grand Silence daughter was made out of. He fed her the rein and didn't even have to use leg because she was shooting off like a speeding comet. Kyle pushed her for more and was surprised when the black filly surged ahead with even more. Her stamina and reserves were astonishing and he knew that these talents would only grow as she developed more.
The month of rest and conditioning had settled well with the black and she was in top form as she cruised blindingly around the turf into the straight. Sensing the end, her closer instincts kicked into full gear and her stride lengthened and quickened, as Kyle fed her more rein, fully letting her extend.
She was like a black shadow, night falling on the end of all things and there was little to hinder her passion and desire. The desire to run burning brightly in her eyes as they sweeped by their finish.
Kyle slapped the filly's neck in appreciation and adoration. It was a phenomenal run and their had easily dialed in to each other...yes this was the beginning of something beautiful.
