DECLARATE
Ridden By
Terri Lane
The grey mare had been bought from Dreamvalley stables she may be 4 years old but, the owner saw greatness in the mare. Terri took her out of the stables holding the saddle on her right harm while the reins were in her left hand. Coming up to the track she placed the saddle on Clara rubbing her side as well to pet her with a gentle touch. "Your such a pretty girl. You ready to go for a little run today Clara?" Terri said looking the mare in the eyes with a smile. Clara nickered and bit at the bit in her mouth.
After placing the saddle on the mare Terri jumped onto her back placing her feet in the panels of the saddle. Grabbing the reins Terri guided Declarate onto the track and this time Terri would not use a gate and instead just took off right at the start. Clara was best on Dirt tracks. She ran as fast as she could catching up with all the other horses on the track. Terri held onto the grey mare as she seemed to vary on the track. She started out in the middle of the pack as she gained to become the front. She also preceded others on the track.
The mare still had her speed on her after all she was known to hold in 3rd place in most of her races. Terri held onto the running mare as she kept her pace the same. Terri pushed her a little so that she could train her to push towards the front near the end of the last furlong. Terri wanted to keep her to stay forward and at least place or show in the next big race. The mare was in full focus as her stride extended as she pushed to get to the front.
Clara's new owner wanted her to become a champion or at least in the next hall of fame if it were even possible. After crossing the finish line Terri brought the mare to a hold and she smiled petting the mare lightly. "Good girl." She said walking the grey thoroughbred. Sliding off her back she took off the saddle to let her back breath. Walking her back to the stables Terri took off her helmet and gave herself a pat on the back for a job well done and would be ready come race day as well would Declarate would be.
