[FS Mockingbird] & Nick Landing - Prep for True Enough Memorial Stakes* - G4+ 12F D
Jay was wired today. Nick attempted to keep the chestnut stallion at a light canter, but even he was struggling to hold in the Oddside son. Things do far had gone fantastically for the chestnut and he was lurking right below climbing into Grade One. The thought was tantalizing for Nick and he was feeding off of the colt's energetic passion.
I must have left you in your stall for too long because your energy is off the charts!!! The stallion tossed his crown as though he understood and was in agreement with Nick's assessment The stallion could really run on any surface, but he had always leaned to the dirt. His feet gripped the dirt as Nick guided the stallion around the track. So far the competition in their upcoming race was Flashy Wings and Euphorion. Flashy Wings was a grade one winner and was predicted to be the winner. With 20 wins to his name they were running against a proven G1 racehorse... Nick chewed on the thought. Jay was more than capable of pulling off a win here, but there was another strong contender entered, the Star Thoroughbred, Euphorion. He too, was sitting at grade two and was looking for some wins in order to climb the racing categories.
It was going to take some serious work, but there was good chances. This race could go to any way, but they were going to work hard to make sure that they had a more than good chance of stealing the win...it was going to take work.
Flashy Wings had two distinct advantages, he was already a grade one and was the only horse in his position. Jay would be running in the front with the competitive Euphorion. Nick pressured the chestnut stallion into a gallop and the energetic boy was more than eager to reply. Off they zoomed around the dirt track, cruising on the inside rail as they passed other working horses. Jay knew he wasn't racing them, but every time he passed a horse his efforts of running only grew more solidified and definite. He was feeding off of himself and he still had plenty of steam to blow off.
Nick had been taking the stallion out two times a day, conditioning and breezing the chestnut stallion, but each time he had abounding energy and power. He was literally like a never ending supply of pure unconstrained energy and his poor stall door was already showing the evidence of it. With two driven front runners like Jay and Euphorion, Nick would have to run the colt wisely. Flashy Wings would prey on the speed dual...no doubt. So Nick was going to have to be sure his high-energy stallion didn't get carried away with the dominant personality and drive of Euphorion. The chestnut stallion had done a lot already this season, which would have to of taken some kind of a toll on the competition, but that mean he did have more experience this year...there were pros and cons. He was coming off of a third place from last weeks race and would be looking to redeem himself. Flashy Wings was coming off of a win from the same race as Euphorion, the Babbling Brook Handicap. Nick grinned as he hovered close to the chestnut's frame as they continued their gallop over the track. Jay was the freshest horse in this race and he was hungry for the run...the win. They would use this to their advantage with a touch of tactics.
It was going to be a fight, but as Nick urged his chestnut mount over the four furlong line he couldn't help, but smile at their chances....things could be looking up for Jay and Intrepid.
They were one win away...one win from moving up in the Grade One category. So far Jay had had an amazing start...in every start a win...this was going to be a fight, but Nick was sure that the ticking time bomb underneath him had what it would take to blow the competition away...
