DECLARATE Ridden by Terri Lane
Comet Cup June week 1 workout
It was time for another race and Declarate raced in the first week of May at the Wire and got 4th place after becoming a Grade 5 in April. Terri had gently pulled the 4 year old out of the stables with her saddle already on her back. Declarate was a very beautiful dapple grey mare with a very gentle nature. The stables were going to retire the mare at age 5 to rest her after having great seasons. Terri fed her some treats before pulling herself onto the thoroughbreds back and trotted her onto the track having the mare stretch out her legs after being in the stables for long periods.
Declarate trotted her way to gates her ears up high and her head facing forward as the mare was wide awake ready for her proud workout. Terri was out here by herself riding this brilliant horse who trotted with style. "What do you say we just breeze it today? It's still early." Terri said placing her helmet on and rubbed the horses back before getting her ready at the gate. The horse took off within minutes sprinting off into glory. The mare was finding her strength to expand on the track. She ran 6-9 Furlongs on dirt track and was a grade 5 horse.
The mare was well experienced who showed in most of her races and finally won a race at the Wire. She was already half way along the track running smoothly as Terri held onto the mare having her speed up coming up to the final stretch as the mare gave it all she had. The mare ran her best near the end of the race since she varied on the track not choosing one leg type she chose to do all sorts to confuse her competitors.
Declarate ran on running as fast as she could until reaching the finish line. The mare brought herself to a stop pounding on the ground then walking off the track all on her own. Terri brought her to a stop outside of the track and sliding off her back giving her a small brush off. The mare had potential and her final races were coming up. The staff was going to retire her next year but, wanted her to make the best of her. This was her last year and she would be ready for any races that came ahead.
