I need to talk for a bit about something...please take what I say with a grain of salt. It's been a tough couple of days/weeks and I'm at the end of the line here. I'm not asking for immediate change or anything...I just want thoughts and opinions on something. And I am not looking for a fight. I am definitely complaining about something, though please don't judge me too harshly.
And what am I complaining about? Workouts. Let me explain.
In order to be uber successful here now, it appears you need a workout very often for each of your horses. Especially for big races. Now, for big races I can understand, but then you run into an inevitable problem - uh oh. No time to write a workout for this. Might as well scratch out my very impressive horse with nine previous completed workouts because I won't have a recent one for the race and therefore don't stand a chance of winning. Yeah, I'm referring to Innocent Passion. Five wins in ten starts, loads of completed workout. She should have had a chance. But I recognized, as well as two other people, that she wouldn't have a chance to win or maintain her record in the Racing Post Trophy despite her impressive credentials. Why? No recent workout.
Let's say that if I continue to be as busy as I am, which trust me I probably will be. You might as well tell me now not to enter the horses I have, with ten plus previous workouts or great records, into big races anymore because I don't have the time to write new workouts for them. Apparently, the past time put into them doesn't count when it comes down to the table in races. I understand it's competition. I understand this is how the way things are - trust me, I've been here long enough. But it's not until now that I truly understand the fatal flaw present in this way of judging things. Essentially, it boils down to this; only those people with the most time will be able to gain success here. Those that are suffering from time constraints fail.
I understand our methods. But I also understand that this cannot happen. Kirsty, I'm going to use you as an example for a second...hope you don't mind. Why did Kirsten leave? Because she couldn't keep up with the horses getting a workout every race. Has this behavior changed since she came back? In my opinion, not really. Is it fair to those of us with no time? Definitely not. In fact, I can already see how much my horses with five or so workouts this year are already hurting in the races. It's just...not fair. I don't know how to explain it. I've put hours into these horses and apparently the fact that I can't put as much time into them now makes them a lesser horse.
I'm sorry guys. I hate complaining and I've rarely done it as publicly as this. But I need this off my chest. I can't deal with that. I want your opinions or suggestions on this before I lose my mind. I've placed years into my stable. I don't want it to be ruined just because I'm killing myself for the sake of my future in school. Please, critique me, yell at me, do whatever at me. Just acknowledge what I'm saying. That's all I'm asking.
