It was the second week in April, meaning that in two weeks time the Turf Triple Crown would begin - a series which two of the stable's three year olds would be attending. They were, of course, Italian Ice and Blue Me Away. Horses that had made their name the previous year, and had continued to impress so far this season. Of the two, Blue seemed the stronger prospect but Icee was not one to be overlooked, she was a talented filly and when she came out on form she had what it took to be a true star.
In order to ensure the horses were well prepared they had been entered in one last race. For Blue, that meant the Silk Road Stakes, and for Icee the Oaks Stakes where she would hopefully be able to find her confidence in preparation for the series. Alexia and Jacob had decided to work together as it not only gave the horses a more competetive edge but also gave them a chance to evaluate the competition.
Jacob was more than aware that he and Blue would be going up against their rival, Ode To Glory, in the race. The colt with whom they had drawn in the Breeder's Cup the previous year and then dead heated for second place again earlier this season. He was not a colt to underestimate, and Jacob was not going to make that mistake. However, he could not forget about the other competitors either. Bella Luna was on fire this season, with five wins in six starts while In Stride's filly, Tears Of An Angel, would be racing for the first time since February. But tough competition was to be expected - the Turf Triple Crown was an unclaimed and much desired title.
Alexia had also been looking at the field that she and Icee would be facing and was interested to see how things would turn out. Their field was only three horses including themselves and the names were not as big although to become overconfident because of that would be foolish. Wish Upon A Star was making her first start at the Green Horse Fields track since December but was not having a bad season so far and Fleet Majesty had managed to claim two victories on the track this season.
