SEPTEMBER WORKOUT - El Sol Del Mar Memorial Stakes* - The Rising's workout
The day was young and a bit chilly but, nothing out of the ordinary for this season. The races would be top notch coming up and everyone was on edge in Nature Blue Stables. The stables recently bought an incredible stallion from the well known stables Witch Creek Stables. The staff team was very surprised to have a son of HoF The Natural hitting their stables and was very happy for the stallion's already success. They had also recently saved a colt from an abandoned stables who was being trained on dual surfaces and to run distances. The Stallion they acquired from Witch Creek was The Rising, a 4 year old stallion standing approximately 17.0 hands which in turned towered over the rescued bay colt the stable named My Remedy.
My Remedy came from unknown lines who came from a stable that was abandoned and appeared to have no human contact for quite sometime. Both bay horses were wild up but, as awaiting for proper races, Meredith Hently who rode My Remedy would use him as a riding partner for the Rising in the time being. Carlos Sanchez rode The Rising who needed a small step to hop onto the 4 year old horse. My Remedy stood 16.2 Hands and was considerably at a normal height. Ri was a very difficult stallion at first but, Carlos would let him run his own course until he was able to control him.
Both Jockey's were prepared as they were both new to riding the horses under their bottoms. The horses together hit the dirt tracks of Green Horse Fields and Ri bobbed his head gently as he felt the new human on his back. The stallion had no major wins to his name just yet but, moved along the ranks of racing like a silent snake in the night. He made it to Grade 3 in just amount of weeks than months. He would no longer be racing under Witch Creek's colors but of Nature Blue's new found peach to blue colors. He was set to race in the El Sol Del Mar Memorial Stakes September of the first week. So far the results stated he would be against Sizzling Dawn of Stride of Perfection Stables.
My Remedy had not raced once yet as he was the new rookie at Nature Blue. He had settled down for awhile while approaching the track and would both gain confidence here and give it to The Rising. The bay colts were definitely outmatched but, a workout was needed for the two to move up or to be prepared for a race. The Rising moved on his own accord away from the youngling beside him. The two horses were not friends in this fray but, allies to find what they were born to do. "Let's see what you have Ri..I'll take care of you if you take care of me huh boy?" He said reassuring the animal below him. The Rising just swiftly shifted his ears back and forward of the sound.
The elder horse darted away from his new companion as he was not ran against him at all The Rising would taunt Reme to follow in a pace. Meredith had only hoped that she would not be thrown off of Remedy who was still very potentially new to their stables. She wasn't afraid of a spooked horse but, feared for her life when accidents did occur. My Remedy pounded the ground once before he accepted the challenge of the elder stallion and started slowly behind the fast paced bay ahead of him. My Remedy would experience a much faster race in the near future and would need this run to get him ready.
Ri kept his stride the same staying away from the railing on his left as his massive legs touched the ground with only seconds. It had seemed as if he was a Pegasus flying to Olympus. Carlos made him come to a slow gallop so the other could catch up. It would certainly not be fair. Meredith was relieved Reme got into what was going on and the younger colt approached the hind quarters of the elder. "Come on Rem, you can do this." She said to the colt as he stayed at the hind of Ri.
With only the last of the back stretch left The Rising failed to let the other pass him with his stubbornness flaring through his nostrils The Rising then cut right in front of Remedy with all the stamina he had left and bolted faster as the last pole came to pass. Meredith shook her head but, already knew My Remedy was no match for a stallion of this caliber. The Rising passed the wire with no hesitation but, rose his head as he felt the wind of the colt on his hind quarters and bucked just a quarter way and came to a slow trot before a walk.
The Rising was a machine to look at and it appeared the press on the sidelines agreed as Carlos just waved to them and then focused on his opponent. "It was a good run Mere..Reme is still young he will get it eventually." Carlos said as he slid off the horse, holding the reins of The Rising and went to rub Reme's nose with his free hand. Soon after Carlos praised Ri with gentle hands and the Jockey's along with their horses back to the stables. The Rising was all fired up and he would be safer with his moods in the stables.
