The Faraway Place
White Rose
The graceful bay thoroughbred filly took a single stride on the turf and gathered her rather large 16.3 hand body underneath her. She had filled out since her last races as a two year old, she looked much stronger, like nothing could ever hold her back. Perfection, if that was the word for it, her muscles rippled under her chocolate fur with every stride she took.Lightly raced, with a record of 3-2-1-0, and earnings of $60,000 she may not be well known to many. However, with how she looked on the track that morning under her now regular jockey Andrew Martin she was sure to stir up a little talk amongst the people present at Green Horse Fields track that morning.
The Concorde Stakes was her destination. A race against her own stablemate Daddy’s Overdraft, Dancing Fool a good looking 2 year old colt, and Just a Song. White Rose was not the only horse making her season debut, Just a Song was as well. The pace was promised to be quick, with Just a Song and Dancing Fool, White Rose would have to pace herself, and watch out for Daddy’s Overdraft at the end to win.
She wasn’t the most experienced horse in the field, but she had all the heart and ability to win. Steve knew that, and that was why she was put into a race with such stiff competition. Everything just seemed to fall into place. If she won, great lets keep her going! If she lost, they would try again until she did win and move on from there.
Andrew pushed her along the rail and as they turned for the final stretch he clicked to her; her ears flicked back attentively. Her body tensed and she pounced. He pulled the whip but didn’t use it, she took off down the stretch, gaining ground with each step of her massive stride. Sending turf flying in every direction as she sprinted for the wire, Andrew let out a small holler of victory as they flew past another horse on their way to the wire. Her brown head bobbed up and down happily as he pulled her up to let her complete the gallop out.
She tossed her head once they had finished and turned her head to look at Andrew as he gave her a pat on the neck. She seemed to be saying ‘can we go again?’ with her dark almond eyes.
“How about on race day,” he said cheerfully to the filly.

I just found this song very light and uplifting, I thought it was great for Rose.
