Night Whispers.
Featuring: Lilith Wind & Calypso's Fury & Mainspring
There was almost a sense of liberation as Nick watched the thoroughbreds breezing on the tracks. Would he miss racing? A small part of him twinged in longing at the thought, but it was eclipsed in large by the future ahead to focus solely as a trainer. He could feel it in his bones, Y15 was going to be a monumental season for Intrepid Racing and now he had more than enough time to dedicate solely to making sure that the black and maroon silks would be more than ready to take advantage of every opportunity.
He felt arms wrap around his waist from behind and hug him briefly before releasing. He turned to see Beth's shining eyes and he couldn't help, but smile back. "You adjusting to the trainer's life?", she inquired with an arched eyebrow as she leaned along the rail beside him. He could only nod. "So far, so good and in some aspects it's just liberating." Beth nodded with a knowing smile as they continued to watch the tracks. "Who's up today?" Nick nodded over to the gap as his trio appeared in the gap and rode through into the flow of traffic. Lilith Wind was a striking picture. Her second place finish behind Sun Kin in the BC Juvenile Sprint was just the beginning ascension of the Speed Demon daughter. Jeff Saunders felt as if he had a rocket between his legs as he guided Lilith onto the track. They led the parade and Nick watched the streamlined form of the chestnut and he felt the excitement within him grow. Lilith was poised to continue her progression and it was evident she was too from the look in her eyes.
A dark shadow was on the leader's flanks and Nick's eyes trailed back to see the wild eyed dominatrix. The Silver Tide daughter of TC Winner Furious Passion was in a new form and Nick could see it even from here. Angelina Voldaire had her hands tight on the reins as she kept the muscled filly from unleashing her speed onto the masses. The filly made Lilith look petite next to her, with her size, height, and muscled bulk, but when she moved there was an easy fluidity about her. Nick could see the speedy passion just simmering beneath the surface.
Bringing up the ranks was Mainspring and Beth herself had to just stop and stare at the image the four year old bay represented. "That isn't the same colt your brought out of the original sale three years ago..." she murmured and watched the easy form and passion exudding from both Jett and Ariel Winslow. She couldn't help, but sit strong in the saddle as they followed behind Voldaire and Saunders. Jett, a horse of unknown origins, had ridden strong Y14 and shown in the Breeder's Cup Mile. He was hungry lean and coming into a new potent form, a form that Nick couldn't wait to further develop.
Saunders waved out to Nick and he'd waved them on to gallop as Jett and Winslow powered up and assumed the lead. His maturity, easily contrasting against the younger horses, but his gallop was easy and smooth. Lilith and Saunders eased onto Jett's flank as Cali and Voldaire watched from the back with fire in their eyes galloping with restrained power for four and then they went on cue as Nick and Beth watched with cold observation. Jett was off and running, but Lilith was hot on his flank. The threat that is Cali began to formalize as Voldaire sent her flying and Nick could only be impressed. She'd run under the radar last season, but she'd been working hard and it was evident as she closed the gap and entered the fray with the trio crashing to the finish with fight to spare. He smiled at his trio and knew, just knew that these were the beginning whispers of greater things to come.
