Sarah Star and Strike A Pose

Sarah mounted up on the pretty chestnut filly for the first time at the GHF track. She was skittish, prancing and dancing, her eyes rolling a bit. James put a hand on her neck to sooth her, then when she stopped moving he gave her a quick hug as she desired. Poser couldn't work without a hug from James.. it was weird, but necessary to get results. James lead them to the turf, then unclipped the lead and let the pair continue on their own.

The two year old had never walked on this turf before, had never experienced these sights and sounds; and now it was finally happening. Sarah breathed a happy sigh, and clucked to the filly, urging her on to trot. A bit of competition was all they needed..

Danielle Fiamette and Leading Gypsy

I smiled to myself, patting Gypsy as I did. The filly's ears flicked back at me for a moment, then continued to turn and take in the track. She pranced underneath me, testing out the turf, it wasn't her favourite surface to be sure, but she still needed to be prepared for it. Suddenly Gypsy seemed to stiffen, and her nostrils flared. So another rider is here? I ask myself, before urging her into a trot. We'd just have to see who we could find.

Turning the bend another chestnut came into view, none too different from my own mount – besides the replacement of a blaze for a pretty little stripe down her face. I wondered if the rider would mind some competition, Gypsy did need some work with others after all, work she was lacking as I had no other horses yet – not that I minded focusing on only one.

I had Gypsy trot a little faster, until we had caught up with the other rider, but I kept a mindful distance between us in case the rider or the mount should decide that they didn't want company. “Hello!” I called out, careful to keep my voice low enough so that it (hopefully) wouldn't spook the horses, “I'm Danielle, and this is Leading Gypsy, we're new to the area.”

Giving the other rider a chance to respond I patted my filly again. One of her ears were focused on me, the other on the other pair. She seemed mistrustful. Of course she thought I would be stolen away, “Would you mind some company?”

Hoofbeats sounded behind them. Perfect timing...

No, sounds good. Sarah said, turning to give the other rider a friendly smile. She was riding a chestnut filly also. Poser, naturally competitive, had to remain ahead of the other filly by at least a step. Sarah wondered who the other pair were, and where they were from. She hadn't seen either around GHF before.

I don't believe we've met before. I'm Sarah Star, and this is Strike A Pose.
