ALABAMA STAKES AND WOOD MEMORIAL STAKES WORKOUTS
Santana's Moment and Stella Mackenzie
Born To Soar and Sarah Star
The Road to the Triple Crown races began this weekend. Star Thoroughbreds had the girls running in the Alabama Stakes, and the boys running in the Wood Memorial. Five of their horses were on the road to glory. They hoped, anyway. Hurry up, Stella. Sarah murmured, glancing impatiently at her watch. Where was that woman? Born To Soar shifted impatiently beneath her, letting out a loud snort. Finally, Stella and Tana appeared. Stella jogged the filly on foot down to the mounting block, vaulted on, then immediately cued the filly to trot again to where Sarah and Sophia were waiting.
'Bout time. Sarah said. What took you so long? Born To Soar went straight into trot as her stable mate reached her. Sorry! I accidently put Seraphim's tack on her. Stella replied sheepishly. Sarah laughed loudly, causing both horses to flick their ears back in interest. Stella smiled to herself, her face blushed hot pink. It was nice, that she could have a friendship with her boss. People she'd previously worked for hadn't been nearly so nice.
They continued to trot, Sarah's laughter dying down to occasional giggles. Sticking to the outer rail, they avoided fast workers, though every time one breezed past, both fillies demonstrated their desire to chase it down, especially Sophia.
Furious Passion and Marissa Star
Surreal Moment and Sarah Star
Mr Hat and Clogs and Blaze Bryant
After they finished with Born To Soar and Santana's Moment, Sarah and Stella rode them off the track to where a groom was waiting with Surreal Moment. Marissa and Blaze had already begun warming up with Furious Passion and Mr. Hat and Clogs. Sarah slid of Sophia, and swapped horses with the groom. Thanks. She smiled. Surrey pranced eagerly behind her as she lead him down to the mounting block. Stella on the other hand, cooled out Tana herself.
They began with a warm up trot, chatting about the race. There were six colts entered; their three boys, TDI Live This Lie, Pride Stalker and Knight Rousseau. It was nine furlongs on dirt, and the first prep race for the Triple Crown.
