DARK SUNRISE and HENNA TURATH
The three year old thoroughbred moved with her usual grace, but there was some spirit lacking in her eyes. Those windows to the soul were dark with some quiet misery, some defeated spirit. Henna didn't know Sunny all too well, as they had only recently bonded, but she knew her well enough to know that something was wrong. The dark bay Queen of Hearts daughter was lacking her usual determination to beat the odds - and Henna had a feeling she knew exactly why. Losing three times in a row to the eventual Triple Tiara champion would take the spirit out of any horse, but Sunny was new to SOPS and was affected more deeply. True, she had made friends with the horses of SOPS, but they weren't like the colts she had grown up with back at Akita Rose, and Henna knew she missed them.
Hopefully a good, quick sprint would take the filly's mind off of her quiet suffering of spirit and back into the world of racing, with a taste for victory. She would be taking some time off to come back from her grueling tries in the Triple Tiara, and would be taking it easy in her workouts. Henna agreed with Amber's decision, knowing it to be the best thing right now. She wanted Sunny ready to kick Born To Soar's butt next time out - she, too, was sick of losing to the talented filly. Amber harbored a secret love for the filly - something to do with the filly's dam Born To Fly - but Henna disliked the filly. She had marked her down as a rival, and wanted nothing more than to defeat her with Sunny.
But patience was a virtue, and Henna knew that her eventual victory would come. For now, she would let Sunny regain her spirits, and soon, very soon she hoped, they would dethrone the current filly champion and take her place. Oh yes, Henna had huge ambitions, including the desire to run Sunny in the Juvenile Fillies or whatever race Born To Soar went for. Picking up the reins a bit to gather her filly's attention, Henna gently let Sunny out, picking up a trot, then a canter, and finally a gallop. From their gentle, easy gallop she continued letting out rein, until they were beautifully sprinting down the dirt track. Henna let the breeze whip tears from her eyes, her mind off of her new rivalry and more on Sunny's movements. The filly was smooth and strong, and Henna knew that they had time yet to prove themselves. Sunny was too talented to let go to waste.
Together, and soon, they would take on the world.
