Due to issues in colt-dominated races the beautiful filly had been entered in the Lullabyebyebye Derby - a filly only race which was not only within her distance and surface preferences but was for fillies only. This decision had been made in order to allow the filly to bolster her confidence and prove herself capable against other fillies. After all, she was to be entered into the Juvenile Fillies at the Breeder's Cup and they were confident she would have what it took by the time it came to that day. Preparing her would be difficult but she was an amazing filly and she would surely prove herself as such.
Alana was confident in her ride's ability and in her own. As she led the bay toward the track she said nothing but watched the filly. She was energetic, her head held high and eyes bright as they made their way toward the track. Enthused by recent competition she was really in her element when it came to racing. She nudged her jockey trying to get her to speed up and seemed incredibly enthusiastic.
Mounting, Alana took a handful of the filly's mane and pushed her toward the gate where she entered calmly. The filly tossed her head slightly, shifted her hooves, and when the gates opened she bolted out, startled by the noise as she had become jumpy within the confines. She set a high pace, pushed hard down three furlongs on the six and then tasted the crop on her rump and pushed harder, eyes set on the post and passing it at high speed.
