Another Horse of the Year for Star Thoroughbreds?
After crossing the line in first for the seventh time this season, this year's Kentucky Derby winner Sunset Crusade of Star Thoroughbreds is looking to be a top contender for the Racehorse Of The Year title for Y11. It's early days yet, but the three year old colt, affectionately called 'Cruze' is rising quickly, most recently winning against a field of four year olds.
When asked about her colt's Breeder's Cup prospects, Marissa Star said "At this time, we are definitely considering running Cruze in the Breeder's Cup Classic. He's certainly proved he's capable of big things."
Star Thoroughbreds have won the prestigious award four times over the years, with Bank On Silver in Y2, Rising Fury in Y5, Simply A Flyer in Y8 and most recently with Born To Soar last year in Y10. None of their stallions have made the grade yet, although Rising Fury's colt Furious Passion came close to it last year after winning all three legs of the Triple Crown. Will Sunset Crusade be their first?
