It is with great sadness to announce that Firestone Racing's G5 gelding Inferno has an injury that will put him out for the rest of year fourteen. The Gallop caught up with head trainer Carter Leeson who had said the following:
"It is unfortunate that one of our first horses Inferno got a bone chip during training. Rider Talia Smith said he didn't quite feel right when we took him out for his morning gallop, and further observation did show that he was dead lame on his right front, followed by excessive swelling around his knee. We decided to call up our vet, Dr. Baird, to take X-rays. The x-rays showed that he had suffered a bone chip. Arthroscopic surgery will be performed on his knee followed by three months of rest at Firestone and an additional three to four months of re-training." Carter did not release any other information. He did say that Inferno would be back for the Year Fifteen season. Inferno will not be running in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.
