tsubasa's dream
autumn cup
grade five
This was it. Lately Tsubasa hadn't been doing all that great with her races, but then again some of them weren't right for her. Aimee painfully regreated a few of them as she couldn't show her true self, but it was all about learning their mistakes. Another big race was coming up, and Darkest Dreams stables wanted their young filly to do well. Even if she didn't come in the top three, they didn't want her to be near the bottom. Stroking the grey's neck carefully, Aimee gently whispered to the thoroughbred in order to try and calm her down. Everytime, before a race or even training, the filly seemed rather tensed. Tsubasa got scared quick easily, and she looked loike she was just standing there, being on guard as her ears flicked back and forth. It was a nice and rather calm down, so Aimee and her cousin Leon who was here to help them out wasn't too worried, but of course the young filly was always worried about what was going on around her, flinching at a couple of small and innocent things.
Taking the reins in her hands, Aimee mounted the grey with the help of a groom that was also going to help out a bit with Tsubasa today. Looking over to Leon, Aimee nodded and he released his hold on the filly and with that, Aimee lead her favourite horse out onto the turf track so they could do a good work out, just half a mile today. They agreed on using the gate today and time Tsubasa for the offical race seeing she hadn't been timed for a good while now. Walking her onto the track, Aimee lead the filly over to the rail and started trotting alone it in worder to warm up Tsubasa so she would be ready.
While they were peacefully trotting down the rail, Tsubasa's ears laid flat against her head before stopping and backing up a little, shaking her head. Aimee frowned before pressing her weight down in the saddle as a attempt to get the grey filly to just stop. "shush... calm down" Aimee whispered carefully, stroking the filly's neck as she started to stamp her ground. She must have seen something out of the corner of her eye and gotten spooked even though it was properly nothing. The jockey sighed before collecting her reins and kicking Tsubasa gently in order to get her to go forward. All the filly did though, was take two steps forward before stopping. Pressing her heels into the grey's stomach harder then before, clicking her tounge quietly so just the filly could hear here had some affect. Slowing, she started to move again into a walk before finding herself brave enough to start trotting again.
After a couple of minutes trotting around, Aimee found that now, being calmer and seeing nothing dangerous was going to come after her, Tsubasa was full of energy and was ready to run it off. Moving the filly into a canter, she decided it as best to just head down to the gates so they could time and work her out properly. Cantering for a few minutes, Aimee slowed down the young filly so they could get here into the gate. Tsubasa slowly walked towards the big gates before stopping a meter or so away from it, flickering her ears back and forth as she just stared at it. Clicking her tounge, Aimee tried to get her moving again and gently pressing her heels into the grey, she started to move into the gate.
The gate closed behind her and the thoroughbred just stood still, staying calm as Aimee got into position in the saddle, mumbering a few words to herself. A minute or two passed before suddenly the gate opened and Tsubasa just jumped out of it, she gotten out of the gate rather slower then Aimee would have liked, but she knew that the young grey would move quicker after this upcoming bound. All she could hope for, was when it was race day, that they would be able to do at least some good.
