Sarah Star and EUPHORION

The tall, muscular chestnut colt pranced on his toes, shaking his head and snorting. He was tired of waiting for Sarah to stop checking out other horses and get on his back. James came over finally to give her a leg up, after watching Sunset Crusade and Marissa Star work with a couple other horses. As soon as the lead was unclipped, the colt was off, trotting bouncily on the dirt.

Sarah smiled at his eagerness to go. He took in the sights and sounds of his new surroundings while he warmed up, but wasn't particularly excited when she slowed him to walk. Easy, Ryan. She soothed as he tossed his head with a touch of frustration. They had to wait for Silverianna and Kirsten, who they had prearranged to work with today.

Silverianna was the final Bank On Silver baby; Euphorion was the first of Euphoria's. Euphoria was Bank on Silver's first baby, along with her twin Lusitania, who was half owned by Akita Rose Stables, and was therefore half sister of Silverianna. If success of siblings and parents was anything to go by, Silverianna would dominate, and so would Euphorion. Sarah was really excited to see Silverianna race for the first time, and equally excited about riding Euphorion's first race. Not long now!

Ryan decided he'd had enough of walking, and broke forward suddenly into canter. Rolling her eyes, she quickly checked to see the track was clear, and turned him in a tight circle to slow him back down to trot. Then she spotted Silverianna and Kirsten approaching. A huge smile spread across her face. This workout was going to be interesting..

<sub>The gray filly side stepped all over the track, her head held high and eyes rolling. This was the first time she had stepped a hoof on the GHF track. Melanie patted the young filly. "Get used to it girl, this is where you'll be running for the next few years." Melanie grinned, this was going to be a blast.

She surveyed the track and finally managed to track down the young colt and rider that she was supposed to meet today. She recognized Sarah Star as the owner of Green Horse Stables but the colt she was riding was new to the track. He was a handsome chestnut colt that could only be related to Euphoria and Lusitania. Melanie had ridden Lusitania throughout her whole career with ARS and was going to be riding Ianna as well. She just had the best luck with riding champions lately.

Silverianna was young and leggy but she definitely had great talent. By request Kirsten had agreed to a joint workout with a juvenile horse from Green Horse Stables since the owner had been itching to see the last Bank On Silver foal in action. Melanie was super curious who their competition was going to be. This will be interesting.

By the looks of the young chestnut colt in front of them Melanie felt a little scared to even find out who he was. She urged Ianna into a trot and joined the pair in their warm ups.</sub>

Ryan ducked his head and bucked slightly. Then he noticed Silverianna and his focus quickly switched to her. He stopped in his tracks, and his head came up about as high as it could go. He watched her approach with great interest, and when she got close, he started trotting again, matching her stride for stride, touching his nose to her neck. Ladies man at work. Sarah said, flashing Melanie a smile. She firmly nudged Euphorion away from Silverianna.

Sarah had been expecting Kirsten, so this was a bit of a surprise. She's looking really good. she said, gazing at Ianna wistfully. How've you been Melanie? she asked, having not seen the other rider in some time.

Silverianna

<sub>Melanie struggled to keep Ianna away from the big colt. She smiled when Sarah mentioned that her mount was working his charm on her girl. "Aren't they all?" She laughed. "I don't think Ianna here minds too much." The gray filly had stopped being her normal feisty self and was watching the colt carefully.

Sarah seemed a little surprised to see her and she wondered why. Had Kirsten not told her about the workout or what? "I've been alright, super busy though just as you have probably been at your stable too with it being foaling season. My sister is insane with things to do right now." She cleared her throat. "So um... who is this fine gentleman?"</sub>

Our last mare foaled last night. Sarah grinned. All their mares had foaled within a week, so she was running on little sleep. This is Euphorion she replied, surprised that Melanie didn't know. Kirsten was busy, she was sure, but not busy enough to inform Melanie who Silverianna's workout buddy was today, surely? She frowned slightly, then shrugged. Maybe the owner of Akita Rose Stables had wanted it to be a surprise. She hoped Melanie knew of Euphorion's bloodlines.. out of Euphoria and by Merry Bay King. She added quickly, smiling.

Euphorion arched his neck some more, as though he'd understood what she'd said. He just liked hearing his name.

Silverianna

<sub>"Oh yeah, you must be tired then. We still have a few more left. Including our Merry Bay King out of Queen of Hearts foal. A lot of hopes are riding on that foal." Melanie shrugged. They all loved foaling season despite the stress and she couldn't wait to meet the new foals.

She surveyed the young chestnut colt. Euphorion eh? So this is the young colt everyone was talking about. "He is gorgeous. A future champion for sure! Sorry I knew about him I just had never seen him so I wanted to make sure which horse he was." Melanie smiled. Her sister had never told her which horse they would be working with but by the smirk on her face she should have known it would be a high class horse. Figures...

Oh well they weren't afraid of a little competition. She patted the young spirited girl under her and got a whinny in return. Enough with the chat Ianna wanted to run. "So what are we going to do today? My sister said it had to be a work longer than three furlongs and under seven if that was okay with you..." Melanie chewed her bottom lip. If only she knew what to expect today...</sub>

Merry Bay King and Queen of Hearts? Nice! Sarah knew that Queen of Hearts was the dam of Fleet Goddess and Limitless Time, who were both high grade racehorses. Merry Bay King, obviously, as Y9 Sire of the Year, needed no introduction.

She grinned and stroked her colt's soft chestnut neck. Yes, he's our prince charming. Sooo looking forward to his first race. Euphorion nodded his head slightly, as if he agreed with me. In reality, he was ready to race this filly.

I was thinking six furlongs. Four just an easy gallop, then all out for the final two. What do you think?

<sub>Melanie nodded enthusiastically. She was ready to see this colt in action as well as to see how Ianna would handle the pressure. "That'll work. I'll meet you at the pole in five." She clucked her young filly forward and got set on finishing her warm up. Melanie wanted to make sure her mount was nice and ready to run. There must be no risk of injury. After what had happened with Ultramatic Mel never wanted to go through that again.

The frisky filly tossed her head and bellowed impatiently throughout her entire warm up. She wanted to get going already. She wanted to go and do the job she was set out to do. There was no point in wasting good bloodlines.

Mel looked back to locate the horse and rider and gave her a thumbs up. They were ready to run. She tugged Ianna in the direction of the pole and cantered over. This was it.
