Carmilla
"What is this Kirsten another attempt? I'm telling you there is no bonding with that mare!" Kirsten shook her head stubbornly. "She is a Night Stalker baby she must bond with SOMEONE." Apparently that someone was not her. No matter what Kirsten did it was never enough for the four year old mare.
Melanie rolled her eyes at her sister's response. Whatever then let her try... She dropped her arms over the rail and leaned her chin on her hands. This was Carmilla's first work on the GHF track this year and Kirsten was hoping to get some sort of bond with the mare. It doesn't really matter to Melanie either way because like why does a horse and rider ALWAYS have to bond? They don't. Not every horse in the racing string actually has a great bond with their riders. Some horses can be ridden by any jockey and will still perform the same way.
It's just in her head. Just because Carmilla is a Night Stalker baby Kirsten is convinced that she must bond with her but so far it's been a month and a half with no progress. It was pathetic on Kirsten's part. Like, just give it up and move on... just train the darn horse and get her in a race already.
But... of course Kirsten refuses to put her in a race until the mare has "bonded" with her, hoping that will improve their final position in the race. Melanie blew out a puff of air. That mare might never race and they were all anxious to see what the mare was made of.
Kirsten cringed as Carmilla set out in a choppy stride. This was a seasoned racehorse, four years old! This was not acceptable for a Night Stalker baby! Melanie says that Kirsten puts way too much pressure on Mia's hind but that wasn't true. She just wanted the mare to do great this year and maybe even next year because she was definitely a capable candidate. Now that ARS got a hold of this mare there was nothing that anyone could do to take her away.
She just didn't get it. She loved this horse but why doesn't the horse love her back. Mia tossed her head, throwing some mane is Kirsten's face. The mare liked to play games with her head. There was just no bonding with her. They would just have to continue to run without a bond. There was nothing more that Kirsten could do.
