Criminal crept cautiously through the aisle. His hooves made the loud clapping sound on the concrete no matter how quiet he was, but he tried anyway. He peered around the corner of a few stalls and found Richie's stall at the end of the aisle. He looked around suspiciously before walking slowly over to his stall. Richie poked his head out of the stall with an amused expression. "You're not very quiet," Richie snorted with a smirk on his face.
"You're not really helping," Criminal grumbled as he tiptoed to Richie's stall. He grabbed the lock, pulling it up and over to let Richie out. Richie cautiously opened the door and stepped out, looking down both sides of the aisle. "Hmm, you would think they would update these locks by now," Criminal said while staring intently at the stall lock. Richie shrugged and walked to the end of the aisle where the big barn doors stood closed.
"This lock is new," Richie said while shoving the door with his nose. "I don't think we are getting out this way," he said while shoving the big door again, it stood firm and barely moved. "C'mon, let's try one of their doors," Richie said while walking back down the aisle towards the door that led outside. It was small and thin, for the humans, but that didn't mean Richie and Criminal wouldn't use it.
"What are you morons doing now?" came a voice. Richie jumped and slipped a bit on the concrete. "Must you do all of this at three in the morning? Is it really necessary?" The small dark bay filly poked her head out of her own stall with a dull look on her face. Her eyes were half closed and she looked incredibly bored and frustrated at the same time. The classic look of Xalbadora when you woke her up so early, something that the two boys did very often.
"Geez you scared the crap out of me Xal!" Richie exclaimed with a flustered look on his face. "Don't do that again!" He regained his footing and made his way back to the small door, "Let's go Criminal, I'm not waiting around for Xal to keep creeping me out and make fun of me." He pretended to have a hurt look on his face as he bit the doorknob of the door. His teeth kept slipping over the bronze knob and he snorted in frustration. "Darn humans and their thumbs," he muttered.
"Aww shut up you whiner, just open the door," Criminal grunted. When Richie continually tried but could not turn the knob, Criminal walked over to the tack room that was left open. He poked his head in the dark room that smelt strongly of leather and found a small cloth lying on a saddle. He grabbed it and tossed it to Richie. "Use this, maybe it will help," he said. Richie snatched the cloth off the ground with his teeth and draped it over the knob. He gripped it again and attempted to pull it but it wouldn't budge. Xal now had a very amused expression on her face as she watched the two large colts struggle over opening a door. She was a constant witness of their escapes.
"It's locked," he said while throwing the cloth on the floor. "Well there's always the windows!" Richie said as he headed towards the window next to the door.
"Of all horses, you're the last one that could possibly fit through that window, not that anyone of us can anyway," Xal said while laughing. She shook her head and walked back into her dark stall where she tried to get back to sleep. Criminal agreed with Xal and headed to find another door while Richie stared at the window as if looking at it will make it possible for him to get out that way.
"Richie I got it!" Criminal yelled back down the aisle. He was on the other side and already squirming his way through the small door. Richie laughed as he trotted after him. A black horse stuck his head out furiously of his stall, his dark eyes blazing. He kicked the stall door loudly and glared at Richie as he passed by. Richie smiled like a goof as he continued to trot towards the door. "See you later Buccy boy!" Richie laughed.
"You just wait until I get out of here buddy," Bucc snapped as he slunk back into his stall. Richie and Bucc were not known to be on great terms every since Bucc found Richie grazing in his paddock along with a broken fence. Bucc was very territorial and didn't like little colts jumping his fence and eating his grass. Richie just snorted and slithered through the door behind Criminal only to receive Criminal run full on into him.
"They're coming! They must've heard you yelling you dimwit!" Criminal yelled as he pushed Richie out of the way. Richie got up, shaking his head, "You were yelling!" he yelled back at Criminal who was already disappearing back in the barn. He scrambled to his feet and quickly wiggled back through the door, slipping down the aisle as he took a sharp turn to his stall. He leaped back into the stall and pulled the door closed with his teeth. Then he stopped, "Criminal! I don't know how to lock the door!" he yelled after Criminal.
Criminal appeared and quickly threw the lock back into place before bolting back down the aisle. Richie started to laugh hysterically. By now, pretty much the entire barn of horses were up, and they were not happy. Richie's neighbor, Conqueror, was new here, well sort of, he really just returned and he doesn't know much about the place because he was sold as a yearling. "This place is so weird," he muttered while giving Richie an odd look.
"Aww, live a little bud!" Richie said with a smile. Conqueror just rolled his eyes and turned away from him. Richie quieted down as the owner, Morgan, appeared at his door. She was rubbing her eyes as Owen showed up next to her.
"Richie, you are in so much trouble bud," she muttered, "and Criminal, I know you two were apart of this." Owen just smiled and rubbed Richie's nose. The two took a look around the stable again to make sure everything was in place. They stopped at Criminal's stall and tied a leadrope around his lock, along with Richie's "That should hold for now you trouble makers," she said. Then she and Owen went back to their house.
Richie waited until they were gone. "Hey Criminal!" he yelled. But instead of Criminal responding, he got a response of "SHUT UP!" from the entire stable. Richie grinned and he stepped back into his stall to try and get some sleep.
ooc; i dunno, i got bored, and i've always wanted to show what trouble makers criminal and richie are =P
