It was time to exercise the most pleasant filly I have ever ridden. She was calm and really social, the weather was beauitful and it was prefect to exercise her which the high-spirited filly and sometimes lazy [when she is given a chance] needed. I haven't ridden her long and her colour was really beauitful, and soon enough she came towards her stall door and I gave her half a apple as she was good. Grabbing her green coloured halter I led her out, checking her legs making sure they weren't hot or swollen. I have even checked her breathing which was really healthy. The palomino filly began to get bored and nodded her head up and down. Okay okay settle down, I spoke softly to her and she soon did. I slipped her saddle onto her back and fastened them up. Slipping her brindle on as it was really easy to unclipped the halter off her, which I did and led her to the track.

Once there I had someone to help me mount her and lifted myself upright as she trotted towards the circuit. Something was bothering Tegan this morning, like she wanted to have panther to test her strength on. Still I pattered her, and clicked my tongue for her go into a smoothing canter. Her stride was even and gently without any rockiness which I have had in other rides. I held onto her blue reins really gently so I wasn't rough on her mouth, her canter stride was still comfortable as her muscles were slowly warming up, when we come around the next bend I would then turn her loose and let her run into a proper gallop like we would in a race, to see how she would handle this distance since she was new and had no idea what she liked.

SERAPHIM AND STELLA MACKENZIE

Argh! Stella thought, remembering last weekend's race. Seraphim kept coming in third. Stella really hoped that was the last 3rd place she'd get for a while, because first and second looked so much better on the filly's record. Seraphim usually lead the race, so Stella guessed that she probably didn't quite have the stamina yet to keep the closers at bay.

They started their warm up with a trotting lap on the dirt. Sera was playing up a bit today, tossing her head and generally being a pain in the butt. After a lap of trotting (with the occasional short burst of cantering) Stella nudged the filly with her heels while simultaneously giving her room with the reins to move into canter. The grey thoroughbred broke into canter instantly, and it was fast and choppy at first. Then she settled slightly and her stride became smooth and even, but still fast.

Up ahead, Stella spotted a palomino and rider working by themselves. Sera's fast pace got them there quickly. Sera needed a win to boost her confidence; a little workout race was exactly what she wanted. Steering Sera to the outside of the palomino filly, and slowing her to match the other's thoroughbred's pace, she greeted the other rider. Hi, would you be up for a little race this morning? she asked, smiling in a friendly way.

I was really impressed with the filly's speed and how calm she was today. We had a big race coming up, our first race for this season. I then noticed another thoroughbred filly coming towards us, she was impressive horse. Tegan whinnied happily to have another horse by her side, and I know she wanted to show off as well. Turning my head slightly, the other wanted a race. This was prefect since Tegan needed the practice. Sure, Tegan here is eager to show off and she needs the practice as well. From here to the final stretch which would be our 9 furlongs workout. I said to the other rider.

I watched as Tegan began to nicker towards the grey filly, and basically being her usual friendly self. I couldn't help but giggled, but when we came around the bend, I gave the signal we were racing now, and encouraged her to gallop. I felt her speed began to hit a gear, but I settled her into position where we would be in the race. Her stride was stable, when we would come to the final three furlongs, then I would let her loose, so she can make her move and run which she loves to do.

Hmm. Okay, nine furlongs it is. Stella replied, preparing to cue her thoroughbred to gallop. Nine furlongs was Sera's absolute limit. She was best at 5-7 furlongs, so 8 and 9 furlong races were pushing it. The other filly gave a friendly nicker, which Sera returned with a little squeal. As both thoroughbreds moved into gallop at the turn, Stella decided to keep Sera's pace slow, to conserve the filly's energy. They had the whole backstretch, turn, and homestretch to go. The filly moved ahead of her companion slightly, asserting herself as the front runner, like always.

I settled the filly in a nice easy pace. Allowing the grey filly to move up, knowing what Tegan liked. Settling the stride some more just by the grey's filly's rump. As the two furlongs come, I gave the palomino filly the cue to make her move. Tegan felt her reins going slack and she began to stretch her limbs into more faster stride, just coming by the fillies head. I have to give it to the other filly though, she was good and strong. Still I edge tegan on encouraging her to keep going, and she spirited more, the lead wasn't that far and it was good for her being at the distance. Good race, she is a good filly. What distance does she normally run in? I asked, as I slowed Tegan into a walk now, to help her catch her breath back. We should breeze again some other time. Tegan nickered back at the filly, and nudge her nose being really friendly. Looks like she likes your filly. By the way her name is Golden Grove, we are from Gelli Aur Stables. I said as I walk Tegan back to the entrance, and waited for her to come, to see she would like to walk back to the stables together as well.

Seven furlongs passed, uneventfully. Seraphim conserved her energy well, but was obviously beginning to tire. Still, when the other filly appeared to be making her move, Seraphim dug in and held her off, finishing ahead by a mere head. Stella slowed her thoroughbred down, eventually dropping back to trot, and then walk when the rejoined the palomino and her rider. Thanks! She really is. She's a sprinter, she usually races 5-7 furlongs. Stella replied proudly. Your filly is obviously a good sprinter too. Stella commented. If she hadn't been a sprinter, she probably would have been ahead of Seraphim in the end. Well Hi Golden Grove! she said, reaching out to give the palomino thoroughbred a quick scratch on the neck. What's your name? I'm Stella, and this is Seraphim, from Star Thoroughbreds. Stella introduced herself and horse, as the walked towards the gap.

I was please with Tegan's process and with her workout. Her breathing was little fast, showing she was struggled a little. But I am sure with some work she would settle down and improve loads. The other rider named Stella was really and even Tegan liked her, as she nickered from the stroke on her neck. I am Kiara. Nice to meet you and tegan here liked you. Normally she is wary of strangers. Your filly done great for nine furlongs though. I said, as I stroked the grey filly's neck. Have she won a race yet? I asked just being friendly, as I wasn't that competitive like most jockeys here are really. Soon as I reached the gap, I mounted from tegan's back and gave her pat again, as the groom took her back to the stall. Like to hang out? If you don't mind being friends I asked and waited for her reply as I wanted friends even though we were from different stables.
