Flashabelle & Santana's Moment
Flashabelle danced out onto the track. The dirt felt familiar underneath her hooves and she threw her head up and neighed out, excited to be out on the track in almost two days. She pranced forward as Kate rubbed her coal black neck. Her muscles flexed and relaxed with each step she took. It seemed the only white that was on this filly was the little white star in the middle of her forehead. White wraps covered her back two feet, but they weren't her actually fur. Four long Thoroughbred pillars carried the beautiful filly. Kate spun her around in a small circle a few times before doing it the other way and then allowing the circles to slowly get bigger. It was how she often warmed up the Belle and by now she knew the drill and that it was time to go. After a few more workout things, Kate halted her and watched as Belle's ears perked on her head and she listened for her running partner who was warming up in a rink. Kate did this so that they didn't get in each others way or interrupt one another.
Josh undid the latch for the circled rink and led the warmed up Santana's moment out. Then he mounted up and allowed her to trot to the track. The seventeen hand filly was rather large for her gender and she was all leg. Tana was a sweeter horse. A lot nicer and easy going than Belle, who was high strung and a crowd pleaser. The rather dark filly was shinning under the setting sun's light. Josh directed her onto the track and chuckled as he felt the instantly excitement that flooded the mare's system. He could feel her more pronounced under him now that she knew what was going to happen. Smirking, he trotted Tana up to Belle's side." Lets run them for ten furlongs. Figure that's a good distance for them." Kate only nodded before slipping her goggles over her eyes. Tana danced to forward now, as if tempting her stable mate to catch up to her, to race her. Kate and Josh slowly trotted the mares into the gate before readying themselves.
Kate sighed deeply as she breathed in and blew out. This was the part that made her heart jump. Made her heart race a million miles per second. She looked over to Josh who nodded his head to the gate operator and then the gates shot open. Belle took the early lead as she broke from the gates a bit quicker, but Tana was right behind her slowly speeding up and staying at Belle's haunches. By then they have come to about the sixth furlong and were barreling on. The seventh. Now, Tana was slowly making her move and Belle was keeping her head straight. As they ran, Tana gained to were she was at her neck. As they came to the eighth, things were speeding up and now they were putting on mind whipping speed. Belle was pulling ahead as Tana pumped her body to do more. Both Kate and Josh were pushing their horses harder than ever, however when they crossed the finish line it was Belle who was crossed the line first.
