Silver Birch & Aaron Smith
AZALEA CUP COLTS Workout
It must have been like twenty minutes now and the colt was getting restless now. So pulling him by the starting line, and kicked his side telling him to break like he would in the gate. Settling him like he would have been in the race which is the second. The turf was being ripped from his hooves which was kind of good, showing he was taking this serious.
Let him run at the third furlong Aaron! I heard the trainer shouting. Knowing this, I encouraged the colt to speed up and show what he got and learnt the same time.
Baylee noticed his cue and spreaded his long white limbs and galloped faster. He wasn't doing well in his races, as he came last again. So I was getting concern on where we going wrong, or was it due to the field being to fast and lot horses. We were entered for a race just for two year olds, so maybe we can get better and improved some more. Kept on pushing as I felt the wind blowing in my face some more, the colt was really working hard and wanted to win so badly. As we hit the pretended finishing line, I gently pulled the colt up and guided him back into a smoothing trot.
Good boy Baylee, I said the colt and stroked his neck. I then dismounted and led him back to the yard.
