Santana's Moment, Flashabelle, Lumiera
The three, three year old racing mares trotted out onto the track. All three of them already worked up into a nice sweat and all them of them ready to run. It had been a few weeks before the last training session and with a new horse on board, Kate was interested to see what would happen. Tana and Belle were use to being just themselves when they worked out and they had a strong rival going out on the racetrack as well. However, Kate felt that adding Lumiera this morning would be an interesting twist into the horses day and know they were trotting through the morning fog ready as ever. Of course, since Lumiera was dueled track, Kate knew she would be running the mare with Lady and Prancer aswell which were her turf horses.
As always, Kate was on Belle, Josh was on Tana, and one of the new riders, Grace, was on Lumiera who was turning out to be very sound when it came to working with new mares and a new rider. The trio decided that eleven furlongs would be enough and then rode the horses into the gate. At first, Belle refused. She hated the gate and the fact that a new mare was beside her was making her irritated. Tana, however, slid in soundly as well as Lumiera. Lilly, Lumiera's nickname, seemed to put up with Belle for the moment. Kate couldn't wait to run them out of the track. She felt a rival was happening between Belle and Lilly now. Leaning forward and sliding down her goggles over her helmet, she gave to the thumbs up to everyone before nodding her head to the gate opener. He smiled and then with the ring of the bell and the gates flying open, all three equines raced out.
Lilly took the early lead as Tana was right behind her and Belle came next. Tails whipped in the wind as the horses hooves ate up the ground beneath them and then spit it out behind. They had settled into a nice pace and the seventh furlong was coming around. Now, Tana was getting a little faster. Kate had told Josh to challenge her endurance for she felt Tana could do so much more than what she was doing. Underneath her, she felt Belle quicken a bit and lengthy her pace. Muscles moved beneath her like and rippled endlessly. As the seconds ticked away, they suddenly found themselves turning around the corner and headed down the homestretch. Belle now picked up the pace and rode on the outside of Lilly and Tana who was in the middle. Lilly seemed to be burning out but showed quickly that she wasn't fading just yet. Tana was slowly slipping away but then Belle seemed to catch a second wind and thrived forward almost a head of Lilly and Tana who were battling each other. The two were hitting the gas hard, seeing who was die first. It was Tana who sank back slowly just as Belle crossed the finish line. Lilly came neck who had only lost by a mere neck and then Tana who had come within a nose of second. A close race between very talented mares.
