BORN TO SOAR AND VINDICTIVE FURY WORK FOR THE DUBAI FILLY CUP

With no less than eleven wins this season, and Triple Tiara champion, three year old filly Born To Soar was truly remarkable. She was a top candidate for Horse of the Year, and was probably a definite for Filly of the Year. This weekend she would run in the Dubai Filly Cup, a qualifier for the Dubai World Cup, along with temperamental filly Vindictive Fury.

It was undoubted that Vinny was talented. Her poor attitude however was the reason why her career wasn't as good as it could be. However, the four year old filly was alot better this year than in previous seasons, with five wins to her record this year, making a total of eleven wins in fifty-three starts. Vinny was intelligent, and incredibly quick on her feet, but her tendency to go crazy at some point in each race generally caused her losses.

The pair began their warm up with the usual trot, then canter, before breaking into gallop at the four furlong pole. Vinny aggressively shot ahead of Born To Soar, like the front runner she was, but Sophia was a force to be reckoned with, and did not allow the other mare to put any distance between them, settling no further than a head behind. They thundered around the turn, Sarah and Born To Soar leaning close to the rail behind Vindictive Fury and Marissa so they didn't lose ground. As the turn finished and they left it behind, Sarah opened her outside rein and Born To Soar swerved out from behind Vinny, and both mares made their move at the same time.

It was an all out speed duel for the rest of the gallop. Neither filly got ahead of the other, in the end, and they crossed the finish line head to head. The riders slapped each other a high five, both grinning. This was perfect; now both of the thoroughbreds would be extra determined on race day, since neither had beaten the other. They were ready to conquer the Dubai Filly Cup.

MR HAT AND CLOGS, BANK ON GREATNESS AND FURIOUS PASSION WORK FOR THE DUBAI COLT CUP

Well this is going to be interesting.. Blaze thought, eyeing off Bank On Greatness and Furious Passion, then his own mount Mr Hat and Clogs. This was going to be a seriously testosterone fueled workout; and the Dubai Colt Cup, which they were working out for, was going to be intense. The three young stallions all acted like the owned the place as they strutted their stuff down to the dirt track. Blaze and Mr Hat and Clogs reached the dirt first, breaking into a trot immediately. Furious Passion broke forward into canter, let out a big buck and then trotted as asked. Marissa looked frustrated, firmly tightening the reins so the colt couldn't put his head down again. Bank On Greatness was the most mature of the trio, and calmly walked onto the track before breaking into trot as asked.

The Dubai Colt Cup had pretty much shaped up to be a four horse field. The only horse not owned by Star Thoroughbreds was Flashy Wings, and he was two years old. Talented, but still a baby, really.
