Bee pranced excitedly out onto the track, folowed closely by Cocio. Cocio hadn't been out for a while, although she was only used for a breezing partner now a days she was sure to give Bee a run for her money, she was a decent racer in her days. Cocio was urged forwards by Millie into a steady canter and Bee followed straight away, she always liked to be with the other horses, runnining in the centre of the pack. The pair cantered side by side around the bend. The plan was: as soon as they aproached the long side we would urge them into gallop and complete 4 furlongs as a pre-season workout.
The straight fast approached. Cocio took the lead to start off. Bee held strongly at her hind quarters and settled quietly into a powerful, rhythmic gallop. Cocio comforted herself also into a steady gallop, settled nicely on the inner rail. Bee snorted loudly, her hooves beat evenly on the frosted dirt, crunching at every hoof pounding down.
Cocio and Bee quickened their paces as they came to the two furlong marker. Bee bagan edging up Cocio's side slightly. A quick glance to the side was flashed by Cocio, she still had strive to win even in her retired years, she began to try to quicken her speed a little. But not too much; she needed strength for the closing furlong to finish off. Bee has reached prime fitness in the break she has from racing, now all she had to do was get onto the race track! Bee easily caught up to Cocio and began to breeze past her.
Bee looked energetic and determind. She focused on running the last furlong. She had grown up a lot in the past year and I really thought that this could be her year to do something and prove herself. Cocio struggled behind at Bee's quarters trying to keep up. Bee reached out her long elegant legs, tearing up the ground and covering it in no time at all. She raced past the four furlong marker and engery to do it again and again and again. Cocio galloped in a few lengths beind, slightly out of breath due to her lack of running recently.
Bee was brought back into a gentle canter and leveled up with Cocio. The pair both came back to a walk and cooled off. Bee was certainly ready for her next race and I just hoped she could prove herself just as well as she had done tooday.
