The Breeder's Cup was only a few days away, but for the time being, at La Luna, when one horse went to the Green Horse Fields shedrow, the other three came with. Harriet walked down their shedrow, dropping flakes of hay into feeders. She walked by El Diablo's stall and jumped back as the colt's head struck out of the stall, his ears pinned against his skull and teeth bared, his pale blue eyes flashing as he stared her directly in the face. Looking into the stud-colt's face, Harriet knew that Dee would take a chunk out of someone's arm the first chance he got, and shook his head, exhaling slowly. She moved to Blue's stall, and the four year old stallion left the hay he had been ripping mouthfuls from and moved to the door, ears pricked as he still chewed contently on a mouthful of hay.
"Hi handsome," She murmured with a smile, opening the stall door and slipped in to adjust the black and red rug that covered his chestnut frame. The stallion was a nice contrast to the overly energetic and rambunctious youngsters that inhabited La Luna Racing. He was calmer than the others, while still hot-headed like any usual racer, though he was a complete sweetheart. She gave his neck a pat and left the stall, watching Katie Reimer move toward El Diablo's stall. The colt pinned his ears once more, though didn't give her as much of a problem as he had Harriet.
"He fancies you, no doubt," Harriet said with a grin as Katie slipped the stud chain through the rings on Dee's halter and led him out and over to the crossties.
"He puts up with me," Katie responded jokingly, grabbing a brush out of the grooming bucket. She swept it over Dee's jet black coat, careful to jump out of the way if he decided to send a kick her way. Harriet moved into Blue's stall with a few leg wraps to wrap the stallion's legs, kneeling down by the chestnut's feet.
