Breeding Guidelines
Just a few guidelines to remember when breeding your horses.
Just a few guidelines to remember when breeding your horses.
x Dual surface horse x dual surface horse = dual surface foal. Dual surface horse x dirt horse = dirt foal. Dual surface horse x turf horse = turf foal. Dirt horse x dirt horse = dirt foal. Turf horse x turf horse = turf foal. Dirt horse x turf horse = fail foal (foal will be good, okay or bad on both. DO NOT MAKE THIS PAIRING).
x Distances should also be matched loosely. Don't breed a sprinter stallion to a mare who prefers distances of 9-12 furlongs. Try to match sprinters to sprinters, milers to milers and routers to routers. Sprinters paired with milers can also be nice, as are milers paired with routers.
x Temperament of the parents will influence the temperament of the foal strongly. For example, my mare Rising Fury is pretty crazy, and all of her offspring have inherited this.
xThe colour of the foal must be either the colour of the dam or the sire.We now allow the use of a color calculator found here to decide coloring.
x Both the stud owner and the mare owner need to make a record of the breeding.
x The birth date for the foal is the year it was conceived. It becomes a yearling the year after that, and is two years old the following year, and so on. Example - mare and stallion paired in Y9. Foal born Y9. Foal is a yearling in Y10, foal turns two in Y11, and so on.
x When the foal stats need to be up will depend on the stud owner's requirements. Some want the stats straight away, some will be happy with a rough draft of the foal's traits and the full stats by age two.
