Naturally Charismatic and Strike A Pose work for Rosebud Stakes
They were entered in the Rosebud Stakes, in the second week of March. This weekend. It was the one of the unofficial Triple Turf prep races, and how the pair performed here would hopefully set them up to be able to run in the series. Since the race was only restricted to G5 horses, any horse of any age or gender with 1-3 wins could enter. Because of this, they were up against colts. It would probably be a tough race, but the pair were certainly being well prepared for it.
The field consisted of six other horses besides Charis and Posie. Gate one would hold two year old colt Name The Prince. While he had a good record, he had only started four times and would therefore probably be nervous compared with most of the field. Three year old filly Ray Of Sunshine from the same stable had drawn gate two. She was almost as inexperienced as her stablemate, but with another year of age she probably had a better chance. The next entrant was another filly from the same stable. She was of similar age and experience, by the name of Forbidden Enchantment.
Black Legend, a four year old colt, was to break from gate four. He had the experience, but had only placed in the top three three times in fourteen starts. Another Gelli Aur colt was in the next gate. Parallel Universe - he had about the same record as Black Legend. Finally the last opposition horse was Calle Ocho from Close Racing. He had fourteen starts, with two wins, two places and a third.
Strike A Pose's record wasn't too bad, at 18-2-5-4. She hadn't won yet this year though, despite starting six times. Naturally Charismatic hadn't won a race since her second start, but the filly was improving all the time in workouts and hopefully soon it would show in her race performance. Her record was currently 8-1-1-1. As the four furlong pole loomed, the riders crouched lower and prepared to cue the fillies to gallop. As it flashed by, both sprang into gallop, and immediately were racing.
They flew around the turn, and into the homestretch. With two furlongs to go, they began to make their moves. Blaze crouched lower on Poser's back, giving her more rein and urging her on. The filly took off, sprinting ahead. Sarah had already given Charis the cue. The bay filly wasn't about to lose, and exploded into her top speed, gaining slightly on Poser.
The riders continued to urge their horses. Charis began to gain faster and faster, and passed Poser right at the line, winning by a head. Wooo! Sarah through her fist into the air triumphantly. Blaze grinned a little, it had been a good race. They were ready for the Rosebud Stakes.
