INSTANT SUCCESS AND ALICE ROSE WORK FOR THE BURNING BLAZE
Paradise Island had been working really well. I watched her breeze through the stretch, muscles flexing, keeping her head tucked him. She was gorgeous. I needed another breeze with Isa today. Two days prior to the race, I knew if I trained him up enough, we could win again Eternal Phantom, Euphoria's Warrior, Lusitania's Soldier, and Paradise Island. Surely we could get atleast fourth, or third.
As we stood at the finish line, I watched the fine mist being blown through the air. I knew that if he muscled up, we'd beat them. I knew it. I walked him forward and after a little squeeze, he broke into a rhythmical trot up the home stretch. "Let's sprint two furlongs boy." I said, patting his neck. In stood in my stirrups, gave him a squeeze and he broke into a steady canter.
Keeping his head tucked in, he picked his feet up and preceded into a bouncy canter. He pricked his ears and stared through his blinkers. I watched as heavy favourite Eternal Phantom worked. She was beautiful. She was everything. I smiled and began to canter widely round the turn. Bringing him back to walk, I waited for the next horse breezing to go past.
I trotted into the rail between the three and the two furlong pole. Standing up in my stirrups, the colt leaped forward onto the correct lead and flew into an extended gallop. He stretched out suddenly. I hadn't got my balance yet. With how fast he bolted off, I flew into his back, but he pulled and took me. I managed to regain balance and get my position back.
I urged the colt on. I was all out, he just flew into the stretch, changed his leads, and preceded into 'closing'. He really thought he was in the race the way he was going. I loved this boy. He was strong, handsome, and he was so fast I couldn't feel his feet hitting the floor. I was practically flying. Flying down the stretch, we flew past the line and I pulled him up half way around the turn. Bringing him back to trot, I turned him round.
There was Jacey on her bay pony horse. She went to speak, hesitated slightly, and said "21 seconds flat." I grinned and threw my arms round his neck. Isa brought himself back to a walk and I had a smile so wide on my face that I knew we could win this race.
