Daydream ridden by Indey McCall
August Week 2 Workout
Rea had been performing so well recently! Infact since the start of her career she had performed amazingly, never placing lower than 4th. However she had never been able to snatch 1st place to break her maiden. Indey felt that she had never really had that necessary vital winning spirit needed to carry her through to the end.. until now. Recently Rea had been gaining more and more confidence in her workouts and she had been fighting more and more, getting more aggressive and you could now see that she actually wanted to win! Her competitiveness had finally come out of her and was shining through! Indey and Rea were both now a lot more confident at what they could do and Indey felt that the August Week 2 race which Rea was entered in could be the one to break her maiden. There was some tough competition and some older competition. However, Rea had enough experience, Indey felt. And there was no reason, in her eyes, why Rea shouldn’t be able to pull through and come out on top with the win!
Rea pranced down the track energetically. She really seemed up for today’s workout and hopefully she would be just as raring to go when it came to race day. Indey sat quietly and allowed Rea to make her own way down the track. Rea instinctively picked the rail and briskly made her way down the dirt track. Today Indey just wanted to go for a little run, some last minute practice to just get Rea out there really. Indey felt that she had done enough serious training and hard works, she just wanted to get her out one last time before race day for a gentle run.
Indey pushed Rea on into a forward going trot. With a click of the tongue Rea’s ears pricked and as soon as she felt the pressure against her sides she immediately set off. Rea’s progress and talent was great, she had real spark and promise. There was something about this homebred filly which interested Indey greatly and made her even more determined to help her to win and unlock her greatness to follow in the footsteps of her dam and sire. Rea made her way around the track quietly, but forward going and ready. Rea was never hard to handle, she was always quiet, yet had that spark that was needed to run! One furlong soon passed in trot and as it did so Indey thought it was time to go for the canter.
She sat in the saddle, flicked her heals into the filly’s sides and without hesitation they shot down the track in a calm, collected, yet quick canter.
