Workout for Over the Rainbow Stakes
The stable wasn't doing good in the middle of season and the biggest contenders were being rested for the major races which was the breeders which was coming up. Our hope is that our filly Chocolate would bring the cup home, which she almost did last year. We are counting on her at least. Now on the agenda was the Rainbow stakes which our runners Gambler, Tegan and Quin were entered for. All at different ages and level. Coming to the track first was our youngster horse Gambler. He was just two years old and finally broke his maiden, we aren't worried about him to much as the tougher races were giving experience which was essential for him, being only two was letting him down, but he was tough cookie and love the challenge which was brought onto him. Aaron was doing a super job with him and we knew they were right together, Aaron clicked his tongue and turned him towards the track so he could breeze for while he waited for the other runners. Next to come onto the track was our palomino mare which we bought as a two year old, the races have been slow on her and she haven't ran as much as the other runners which we would have liked, but she was in fit form and wasn't doing to badly. Skye was her jockey and was soft on her, which was needed for her mouth, which tends to get abscesses, we have been lucky this time as she haven't an any so far. Skye turned her towards the track as she was ready to go also and started to breeze on the track. Finally the last runner was a filly which we purchased from Star Thoroughbred Stables. The mare was doing really badly this season, as she was struggling now to get into the top three. Our training with the mare have been great, it was the competition being a way to fierce and it was time to change her normal training stargefy. Baylee nodded when he had his instructions on the mare and went to the track also.
The gates were being check ready for the horses to be loaded. The three horses were together like darkest to the light. Quin was on the left hugging the rail while she breeze, while Gambler was in the middle and Tegan on the outside. The gates were good to and the jockeys pulled their mounts up and headed towards the gate, circling a few times. Gambler went in first and was hesitate a little but went in without a fuss and focus on the job in hand. Tegan was loaded next and was in cleanly without a worry. Quin was next was being a little stubborn, refusing to go into the gate. After some encouargement she to evenutally was in. They were ready to run and when the gates sprung open, all horses broke quickly and cleanly.
Gambler and Quin were out in front as they were running the same style, while Tegan hanged back of the pack. Dirt was kicked back aggressively as the speed of all horses were amazing. Baylee encouraged Quin to increase more, as he was ordered to by Sean. Quin responded and quickly took the lead from Gambler, but had some left for the finished. Three furlongs have gone and the ranking of the horses haven't change. Soon enough the horses began to fight and Gambler and Tegan were getting to the front and Quin was dropping quickly. Gambler was in the lead now and the final turn was nearer. The horses were broke cleanly more, galloping and kicking the dirt aggressively some more, as the line was nearer Gambler pushed himself more ahead while Tegan was close by his rump and the line was crossed and Gambler won. A length behind him was Tegan and five lengths behind her was Quin.
Gamber and Tegan were eager to continue, and the race was ours for the taken, if luck was still going to be on our side that is.
