Nick Landing sat astride the massive 17.3 hand stallion. The edgy brute pawed into the turf below. They stood still having found a trail, they had diverted (to avoid running into other horses) and now sat atop a green luscious hill.
The ten year old stallion wasn't four anymore, but still had all the zest and passion of his youth, hence exercise was a must. Nick was tired of running the trails at Intrepid and had desired a change of scenery...a risky move on his part..but surely who would diverge off of a given trail...(excluding them of course).
Reve was a pure hot blooded stallion. He had inherited his sire's edgy temper, but the breeding with his dam, Rosalind, had tempered his attitude and kept him from being a pure monster. That didn't mean he was friendly.
Nick Landing was the sole person to ever handle, train and ride him. The memories came flooding in. Reve as a colt...lashing out at everyone and everything and then they had made a connection. A surreal connection and from that day forth they were inseparable. He remembered his maiden run...oh how thrilling it was. Reve was easily the most memorable ride of his life. From the back of this stallion he had bested the likes of Augusto, Fly High Silver and Xenophon. He had also tasted the sweet victory of winning the MHS Triple Crown.
He gave the stallion a fond pat...Yes, old man...you ran well. He paused and briefly gazed about...
What do you say? For old times sake...how about a little run? eh?
Auds swiveled at the word run and already he was mouthing the bit...the only thing stopping him from taking it and running was his loyal obedience to Nick. Nick grinned he sensed the old shiver in his mount...the shiver of anticipation.
There was no one about surely it would be safe enough... Finally making the commitment, he kicked the black bay into a gallop.
They plunged down the hill...it was like a roller coaster. Nick felt his stomach rise within him and he couldn't help, but release a holler of pure joy! Reve let out a roar of his own as they landed on level ground...through the valley they raced, logs jumped and ground devoured...
Surely there was nothing that could compare. He felt the stallion surge with refined grace and power and gradually reined him in as they stood resting in the slow, but cool running waters of a creek.
Ha! We still have it 'ol boy. Reve chaffed at the bit..he could have gone on, but Nick didn't want to wander too far from the trail...it wouldn't do to get lost out here...
Now um.. where exactly were they?
He peered around looking for the hill or valley, but having been enraptured with the run..he'd acted like a novice and didn't keep track of their path.
I'm an idiot. Reve half reared in the creek, Nick kept his seat and waited. Yeah... I don't need you telling me too.
HELLOOO? Nick yelled...hoping they were somewhere close enough to the trails for someone to hear..
[ooc: just a fun role play with my old boy here on GHF. Figured it'd be fun to possibly meet some of his descendents on here ! Feel free to reply anyone!]
