Workout for Rose Mile Cup*
It was time for Chocolate to have a break from the track. Running around in a circle every morning was enough to drive anyone mad. Also the break to the beach for a morning was great to prepare the mare for breeder's cup, which she came in fourth last year. Hopefully this year she could get to the top three, as she was going to be entered in the same distance as last time. Larger the field was the more Chocolate loves the challenge to get into the top of the lead. That was in our minds, but for now the mare wanted to work, as the next race we were in was the Rose Mile Cup.
Cantering along the beach, kicking the sandy loam terrine in the air. The cream mare loved the soft sandy loam in her hooves, we were surprised as she hates the dirt surface on the track. Sand and dirt feels the same in texture, but that's just Chocolate. The muscles were warm and form of sweat was beginning to form on her neck and under the saddle. A line was drawn on the sand to show where the track would have ended.
Eight furlongs is what distance needed. Standing on the other side and Chocolate pawned the sand with her hoof, watching and waiting for her rider to tell her to go. Skye clicked her tongue and Chocolate jumped as she broke, like she does from the gates, quickly her stride was balanced and fast. Galloping along the line where the ocean reaches the stand, like it was the rail, she stayed closely to it. Skye wanted to push the mare a little more, for her to give it her all, ready for the race. Pushing her arms towards the mare's neck, she pushed and gave her the signal to go more. Chocolate responded and her legs went faster, and all four legs hit the ground together, and then off again. Snorting more as the mare showed her full potential, which is normally doesn't show until the race, not wanting to burn the mare out, Skye pulled her up a little into the canter again.
The cream mare was ready to shine and pulling her into a trot again, Skye was pulling her up and went towards the Sean. That was a good ride Skye. She have beated her workout record, she is ready for this race. He smiled as their both patted Chocolate. If she carry on like this, the Breeder's Cup is ours.
