Limitless Time
Workout for South Pacific Handicap.
The tall dark bay stallion galloped smoothly over the GHF dirt track. His hooves barely making a sound. It was the "Silent Threat" from Akita Rose Stables. It was Limitless Time. He stretched out his legs and dug into the ground with every stride. He had always had a great closing kick, sometimes people had no idea he was even coming up behind you until it is too late. Kirsten fed the stallion more rein and felt him give another gear. The horse was amazing. Absolutely amazing. There was just one problem...
Limitless was having a hard time claiming a win this year. Limitless had been one of the top racehorses, winning COLT OF THE YEAR when ARS had left the racing scene. And now, it seemed as though he was stuck behind the younger horses. So far this year he had just been able to claim two places and a show. It was a slow start and extremely unusual for Limitless. He was just not having good luck this year. Kirsten rubbed her face in her sleeve and leaned forward, asking for yet another gear from the stallion. He delivered obediently.
Kirsten thought back to her encounter with her daughter yesterday. Could she have handled it differently? Other than selling Carabella. The filly had had to go, it wasn't intended on a permanent home for her at Akita Rose Stables. Kirsten had wanted to get Dark Sunrise back. There were prices to pay. Also yesterday evening she had managed to sell Alluring Assault to Intrepid Racing Inc. It had been a good deal. She would do well there.
They rounded the last turn for home and Limitless was already flying. This was probably going to be a black tape work. The thought of that made Kirsten smiled and crotch even lower over the stallion's neck. Could he give more? He was a late closer, of course he had more. He leaned his neck out and ran with everything he had. They flew past the wire in no time flat. It was almost too soon. Unwillingly Kirsten stood in the saddle and pulled back on the reins. "Whoa boy." She patted Limitless' neck. Sweat glistened his coat. "That was a good run, a very good run."
