Silver Birch and Aaron Smith
Workout for the
Breeder's Cup Turf Sprint
After seeing Chocolate amazing workout form her rest was sweet as sugar. The second entry for the same race is our other cream colt Silver Birch. This colt was another horse which was difficult at first, but now he is sweet as an angel. He have learnt many things and even the experienced have cause him to grow stronger. This year's breeder's cup was the first ever entry, last year he couldn't enter being a maiden. Now he was ready to pull his amazing stunts to push the other horses to the limits. There was more rumors going along the yard recently, Winged Romeo won his last race and now was going to enter in the breeder's cup. We aren't fully sure which one they were entering though yet. Another entry which might come in is Axis Mundee so the competition was going to be vicious this year. Knowing what to do, Silver Birch came onto the track, and Leo went to him. Now Aaron, just strength his legs, knowing him he would like to be in the front all the way, settle him into third and do your best to settle him into the gates. We have noticed this have caused him problems before. Aaron nodded and trotted the cream stallion towards the gates.
Baylee wasn't happy to see the gates and whinnied loudly to show his grumpiness. Easy boy it's going to be ok Aaron smoothed the stallion down and he went into the gates more. The cream stallion kept hearing his jockey's voice which comforted him all the way. As the bell rang, and the gates sprung open, the cream beast sprung out quickly, settling down into the third position which Aaron told him to. As predicted he was out in the front, with the field expected to be huge, Aaron knew him being in front all the way wouldn't be good. Chocolate would be behind them, making her move when all the others were tiring, so being third would push the front runners to rush the race. Keeping in the middle of the track, avoiding being boxed in with the rail, Baylee never liked the rail anyway. Aaron clicked his tongue and the cream colt spread his limbs out more, and his speed slightly increase, as he was pushing the other horse faster in his head. His stride was strong and still fresh despite being raced last week, this colt could run forever.
There was still another four furlongs to go and the clouds were beginning to be miserable and rainfall began to pour down. Despite the rain, Baylee kept ion speed more. The rain was his favourite weather condition, he love the soggy turf and taking the advantage of the other horses hating it. The inside towards the middle of the turf was beginning to get boggy, so Aaron weaved him along the outside stretch for the rest of the track. He asked for Baylee to give him more speed, and the colt was happy to give it to him, the mud was beginning to get dirty his handsome cream pelt now, especially around his forelimbs and belly. The final turn was beginning to come around the corner now and Aaron gave the colt his head, and freedom to bolt straight out. It felt wonderful if the rain and the soggy mane was hitting him in the face. Still Aaron pushed the colt more and Aaron was running his heart now. The shadowy figure of the lead horse was coming to his grasp now. His head was just by the pretend horse's rump as he kept on fighting for the lead. Baylee didn't give up and soon enough the colt took the lead from the pretend leader, and cross the lead with ease. As the colt crossed the line and the rain began to stop. Pulling up the colt he patted his neck and slowly cantered back to the gap where Leo was waiting for him that was amazing Aaron you did a good job. He could be the odd one to win it and his value for stud would be impressive. All we can hope is that he would make that performance on the day
We had a trouble at the gate though, Aaron got off him and walked him with Leo. Don't worry, you know how to calm him down and he would be fine, just be positive Aaron you are a great jockey with him he smiled, and with the breeder's cup a week away it was terrifying and nervous to wait.
