Workout for
Breeder's Cup Filly & Mare Sprint*
[/font]The bay mare which came second last year in the breeder's cup. She had one more season of racing in her, we can feel it. This mare had the potential to go higher if she was raced regulary, luckily she settled for us pretty quick and we were amazed with that. With some special supplements to ease her hormones she was gentle and lovely mare to work with any since. The gates were our main forces for today, she was always sweating in them which cause a few problems. So trotting to the gate, her ears were already being pinned and stomping her legs showing she wasn't happy at all. Goldie even half reared, but with Reena smoothing touch the mare calmed down and entered the gate. Good girl Goldie, it's going to be ok my angel, she spoke again to her and the gates open and the mare sprung ahead. The dirt track was on the soggy side and this didn't matter for the mare, the splatter entered around her legs and belly as she settled back of the pack. Last year a boxed in prevented making her move early that she would have liked, so this time Reena was going to changed her position in the middle of the race, along the four furlong mark.
Soon enough the mare was settled, she loved to run and not being raced recently have helped her energy wise. She was ready and prime for this race, and her eagerness to win was amazing. Reena pushed her a little forward just to see how to respond, the transition was a little bumpy but she got her stride smoothly again, settling her back in the new speed, the mare waited for more and wanted to run now. Tossing her head a little just playing with a bit as she looked a brown horse, which in Goldie mind was leading the race. Coming to the fifth furlong now, Reena pushed her more and got her into the mid pack section of the race, weaving along the outside this time and it gave the beauitful bay time to get into the position she likes before fighting for a position in the front. Settling now into fourth position, just behind the preceders, she held her position well. Staying in this position for another two furlongs before she was ready, to make her move and challenge for the lead from the front runners, whom would be tiring about now.
The final turning was coming up and the mare could sense it, finally she got the command she patiently waited for, and stretched her long bay limbs out in front and started to kick the wet, damp dirt back towards the runners. Creeping more towards the lead, she finally was in second position, wanting to push the leader towards a mistake or even pressure it to gallop more than it wanted to. Reena gave her more free rein, and Goldie spirited more towards the front, she was side and side by the leader now, looking it in the eye and finally she left it behind and took the lead. Still running strongly by three lengths which was amazing track record for her, she crossed the line still in fighting spirited. Reena pulled her up and walked her in the circle for few moments and then went back to Leo. She was great and loved that work, Leo smiled and patted his mare's neck. Hopefully she would get a win for us, but anything is good for us, as longs she and you come back safely that's all which matters to me he smiled, and they walked back to the yard together, and Reena gave the mare to the groom, as she went to see she riding anyone else.
