I know that there is some confusion regarding the use of the distance extensions that can be won. Here is everything you will need to know, hopefully, about them if you have any questions, please reply to this post so that everybody can see them!
Firstly, what does a distance extension do? It will extend your horse's distance range by one or two furlongs. This means your nine to twelve horse could suddenly become an eight or seven to twelve horse. However, you cannot extend your horse's range by more than two furlongs. Meaning seven to twelve or any of its variants is as far as you can go. This is to ensure that we don't get too crazy and unrealistic with things xD
What are the restrictions to applying a distance extension? Well, let's say your horse runs nine to twelve furlongs. You can obviously only extend downwards to eight, not to thirteen. Your sprinter cannot run at distances shorter than five furlongs. This is because there are no races shorter than five furlongs or longer than twelve furlongs, so why would you want to waste your extensions on that? xD
So, how about stacking distance extensions? Well, you can stack one furlong extensions but you cannot stack two furlong extensions or a combination of one and two furlong extensions. Remember, no horse may have more than a two furlong extension. This means each horse can have two one furlong extensions OR one two furlong extension ONLY in their lifetime. As of right now, there will be no exceptions to this rule - but this may change in the future.
So what are the restrictions to applying distance extensions? This goes for all additions you can make on a horse - only two changes may be made to a horse in their lifetime. This means that if you win a surface supreme and want to use it on a horse that has already had two one furlong distance extensions applied to it, you may not use the surface supreme on it. However, if the horse has only one one furlong distance extension or one two furlong distance extension, you may use the surface supreme on it. This rule has been created to prevent excessive stacking. The only way to make a horse dual surface with a two furlong extension is by using a two furlong distance extension and a surface supreme.
One last note - all stat changes must be noted on the horse's page so the judge doesn't disqualify your horse for breaking the rules. Also, any horse in violation of the above rules as of this posting that is running their first season right now (for example, a four year old running its first season on the track) will be required to change their stats to conform to the new rules, and all extensions/supremes used may be taken back when taking away those changes. Any horse seen violating these rules should be disqualified from whatever race you find them in.
If you have any questions, concerns or comments please post here
